I was told that putting a 328 head on the E30 325e block would make some serious power.
is this true?
would it be better then just getting the the 328 motor?

im pretty sure it wont...because you'd need a new ECU, which means a new chip!

Yeah thats why i was thinking the stock compression, and air flow will change So the chip will be all Fu**** up!
325I engine will be a better idea!

you realize that the m52 and the m20 (eta) are different engines altogether....that said, the head bolts may align, but the chances of the valves clearing the pistons/manifolds bolting on/everything going smoothly is asking for too much of a coincidence. I could be wrong....

Keeping in mind that the M52 uses chain driven DOHC, and the 325e uses a belt driven SOHC. You'd have to remove the VANOS on the 328 head because the 325e's ECU has no provisions for it. And the 328 head uses hydraulic lifters too....

this is also what i have in mind, i think an engine swap would be much easier.
