These are really nice cars..... when running!

Just be careful, i have seen these cars turn into money pits more than a few times. If you do an engine swap, there is some pricey costs in doing the conversion. If you decide to keep it stock (the 7M GTE's are great motors) they CAN be very costly to fix if its not running and you don't know why!

At the shop i worked at last year there was one almost EXACTLY like this one, but it was standard. The guy did some DIY work to the car, from some canadian tire PERFORMANCE BOOK, or something like that, and he totally ****ed it up.... Toyota didn't even wanna touch it!

Nice pick up. Body looks to be in good shape too. My dad had an 88 turbo but the head gasket blew 3 years ago and the body was no where near the condition yours appears to be in. Have fun with it!

and i just have to check and see if the engine can pass emissions ..
if it can...

I had an mk3 before. I love these cars. Mine was quick and it was reliable which was a bonus. Forget the swaps though; keep the 7m. I know a guy that's running 11s passes w/ a 7m, sp67 ball bearing and a few other things.

either way, cheers, on the nice car and good luck with the build.

I drove 400 whp MK3, really fast, but it had a larger turbo (single I beleive), and you have to be sure that you are going straight before boost kicks in if you are hot on the go pedal.

very good cars, but engines are expensive to rebuild. The top of the block usually needs to be shaved to get rid of imperfections that develop where the head gasket sits. Either than that, great car and lots of fun.

It'll either be 3 of the following options

1. of course to see exactly whats wrong with the engine, cheaper variation might just be getting the replacements, whatever is wrong
I love the parts for this car

2. Getting the regular 7M-GTE engine back.. (new one)

3. Going with 1JZ... 2.5L twin turbo

Thanks but i got no sr 20 lying around.

well I'm sure he'd take money so that he can buy himself an SR20 or put it towards an SR20..

just saw that and your thread rang a bell.

good luck on your project.

I've heard good and bad things about Tiger...... the only thing with buying a front clip is the same as buying any used japanese engine.... you don't know what condition its in!
