My project. Full race suspension, fat rubber, cool wheels, and a lot of other cool shit. Ditching the M42 and installing a 2.8L OBD-1 M50 next spring.

I bought a euro cluster off Ebay *th-up* I also got Euro bumper strips from the dealer (CHA-CHING!!!), painted my bumpers flat black, and have other random euro bits and pieces. The next big things I am getting are Euro smoked headlights with euro grilles.

I have a "316d" badge sitting in my room, once I get some bodywork done next week, ill put it on *th-up* Should be a shocker once the M50 is in :D

Thanks for the compliments on the plate :)

Yea, it's legal here in NC, but it's pretty much my "signature" with the coppers. :D

Stu! long time no talk. So you finally decided to come over to the "dark side" after you brother did and ditch the small 4-bangers you praised for so long to an M50? I remember years ago on BMWplanet the shit you guys talked "revving to 7000rpm" blah blah... LOL! If you like revs... buy a Honda.... I rev mine to 9000rpm EVERY day.

P.S. maybe you shouldn't rev your little M42 so high when the engine isn't even at proper temp? C'mon understeer!

Nice car! Clean, simple, and soon to be really fast! If I had the money I would love to swap in my E30 the aluminum Z3 2.8L! But I think a custom turbo would be better for the wallet some day.

Hey Randy, whats up? Yea it has been a while.

Don't get me wrong, I love the M42. It has wonderful characteristics and is a blast to drive, but I have gotten to the point where I neeed more power. And don't worry, my M50 will turn 7400 ;)

The engine was up to temp in that pic, 318is's have an 80* thermostat and my motor never gets above the first line. When I am on the highway (as in that pic) the needle gets lower because of the amount of airflow :)

heh, no, it's not. The 3.2 has an (obviously) 3.2 bottomend whereas the 328 has a 2.8 bottomend. The M3 also has hotter cams (252/240) whereas the 328 is (228/228).

You can get serious power out of the smaller displacement engines though. A friend of mines '93 325is with intake, chip, exhaust, and M3 cams (and rebuilt head) puts 213hp to the wheels.

Mine will be a 2.8 with stock cams to start off with but I will eventually get M3 cams (or Schrick 264/252). I want to see 225 at the wheels when all is said and done.
