The biggest issue affecting price will be if its an Alusil / Nikasil engine.

That's damn low KM's, but still, more than 10-11K is unlikely.

$6500 goes for a beaten up late model E34. (My guess is based on the autotrader.) This car is worth easly $8500-$9500. Fairly good condition 540I E34 6speed (rare to find good one with the 6spd) I doubt he would let it go for $6.5k.

I drove the car last night. it drives like new. looks like new.

there are 2 corrections:

- it is a 2 owner car. first owner was an architect who leased it for the first 2-3 years. the car was then returned to Budd's and bought from Budd's by current owner. it was driven 90% by the wife.

- the current mileage is 97000 km's.

now, there is NO chance this car will sell for 6500. even 9 - 10 is low for a car in this condition. you can't even buy a 95' E36 325 with the same mileage for this price. I think 12 would buy it.

Your right, the condition of the car is great, but you should not compare to other cars. The reason it will be tough to sell this car for high dollar is because that engine is the 4.0 with nikasil sleeves and is not very reliable.

the reality is...

The biggest issue affecting price will be if its an Alusil / Nikasil engine.

compression/leakdown test and idle quality usually reveal whether or not this particular engine has been affected by this problem.

You have to take a goog look at it....
This car is the bets buy. It is quick like E36 M3 and very classy ride.

out of curiosity, what does "Alusil / Nikasil" mean?

1992 525i with 120k auto in 7/10 condition: $3200
1990 535i with 190k manual 5 in 9/10 condition: $4400
1994 540i with 195k auto in 8/10 condition: $5800
1994 540i with 120k auto in 9/10 condition: $6800

Given the one you list has low mileage and a 6 spd tranny, it would command a premium off the bat. I would expect ASSUMING mech condition is great, you'd fetch $7000 from an enthusiast at bare minimum.
