p.s. i know body kits are one thing...but i'm looking for something a little cheaper....

A nice new set of springs & shocks is key I think.

1) Cool ( ) sporty lowered look.

2) Killer ( *uzi* ) handling.

Those aren't the high beams, the inside lights on the E30's are the high beams.

as far as i know the openable lamps are only available from europe. they allow you too just change the glass of the lamp instead of replacing the whole thing....check on ebay, you'll probaly find some.. you can stick the rings on your lamps by using the stone gaurds, i just think it looks crappy (my opinion)..

The incredible part of the LED solution pics that you posted is those are all of Jim Powell's 325:)

I sell them for $110 shipped (continental us) to people on this board + 15 for Canadian shipping.

If you want to upgrade to Gen IV rings - its' $35 extra.

Visit www.umnitza.com and click on the E30 install instructions.

The parts listed there are available from BavAuto - but BMPD used to be good about service, they've slipped and thus I don't recommend them anymore.

They are $20-30 and the Demon Eyes are $125-160.

So, you'll have a pretty cool solution - beats home made stuff:)

If you look at those E30 AngleEye light closely you'll notice that they are not the stock headlights. Bosch sell an H4 light converion that costs about $150.... it looks like he used them and they may be open-able. Other than that, Jeremy's right... only the Euro Elipsoids are dismantable. I tried to open the U.S. stock headlights AND U.S. spec Elipsoids... they are literally sealed beams.

so basically i have to do a lot of wiring and sh*t like that to do this???

umnitza
11-24-2002, 01:25 AM
Whenever you look at powering LEDs, they are indeed wired in some way - sometimes, you're lucky and they are wired from the factory.

But generally, LEDS are soldered into an "application"

It's not that hard especially when you have a video walking you through every step ( and youi're not doing trial and error).

ok...so what is it i will need, cause i got confused when everyone started posting different parts....what is the cheapest way (with parts) and what is the best way regarding looks (with parts)

umnitza
11-24-2002, 06:30 PM
The cheapest solution is to buy the GEN IV rings with our LEDs.
That's about $160 = but it's a little different in that you get a higher quality ring, you can test these rings and then provide them with brighter (shorter life) LEDs, or provide lower resistors (we provide 220ohm).

Thank you for the compliment:)
I worked VERY hard to do the videos and will be showing MANY more that I've not made public yet due to the web redesign.

Yes, I'm going to become a supporting vendor on MaxBimmer.

I've worked out an arrangement and will be starting on Dec. 1st.

I'm a company (with many supporting cast members).

so how well do they hold up to weather?.I don't want to invest just to have them short out.( not implying a bad build) Just looking for a track record. Can they get wet when they get hot..stuff like that

umnitza
11-25-2002, 01:34 AM
I've had many people install them in NY. No complaints.

I guess I don't know if they will short out or not. It depends on how well you protect them from the elements - if you put the glass covers on tightly and seal the area where the wiring is routed.

On the ellipsoid equipped vehicles, you use a flat face lense cover rather than the bubble type. Pull the trim ring off (friction fit with spring clips) and place the cover on the headlamp.

Looks like this:

I think you replace the outer cover and place the come on it to make it less conspicuous.

OK, here's what I found out from BMPD today.

There are two outer covers - one that is convex and one that is "flatter".

On the pictures that you see in the instructions the light that is shown as being convex is actually not used on the pictures for the E30 because that car has ellipsoids.

On BMPD.com it's listed as a "Headlight Protector" and has two part numbers:

48933 is for the convex non-ellipsoid one
48941 is for the flatter ellipsoid one

They retail for between $12 for the convex one (for all four) and $27 for all four for the flatter ones:)

If I can get enough E30 cars to tell me that they are interested, i could probably work a deal with BMPD and offer those to you.

If you don't have ellipsoids, then you need the "bulby" convex cover which is about $15-9 shipped.

The LED Demon Eyes w/ Gen IV rings are available. Just let me know what you are interested in via email.
