I was wondering if the wheels would fit on an E36/E46?

BMW 330i wheels.

Yes, but the wheel offsets are a lot more aggressive (read: lower). The E90 tires would be harder to squeeze on, you'd be better off running skinnier tires (225 all around, for example).

It's only worse with the E36 (less fender room). E46 coupes in particular should be fine taking on E90 wheels and tires.

ask the dealer why, and then ask the dealer for both offsets and hub sizes of both cars. See if he knows. Most dealers don't know jack these days.
