I have a 99 m3 diff for sale that came out of my old car. It makes a humming noise but still pulls the same as before it did. I think the reason it started making the noise is the fluid level was too low. Even with the level at full it still makes the humming noise. best offer takes it.

Thanks
Simon

Do you know what the gearing is?!

Also, whats the mileage on the diff when it was pulled from the car!?

500 for the rebuild roughly, 240 for the rebuild kit without the gearing..all you need is the input bearing, pinion shaft seals and bearings, replace all the seals and gaskets...special BMW tool is required, pm bimmersport...its about $500 with labour and parts at least. How do i know? My diff is making the same noise...and it only gets worse..and kills gas milage.

How does a whiny diff kill gas mileage? I can't figure this one out!

^^^ Yeah seems odd to me too, cuz mine's whiny (and has been since I bought the car back in February) and I still get over 620km a tank. Unless different problems with the diff can cause the same whine maybe.
