View Full Version : Best place to get used rims+tires?

I'm looking to get probably 17" rims (even though I've never seen them on a e36, people say it's the best size) w/ either performance or all season tires (so I don't have to change in the winter)

Where should I look? I'd like as cheap as possible but still in good condition and ready to be put on...

Thanks,

Flaviu

FYI, this is what 17" rims look like on an e36... (Thinair's ride) http://www3.sympatico.ca/thinairbikes/bmw.htm

you can try 'On the Rim Again' thats their business, they just sell used OEM/Aftermarket rims and tires, they are located in Ajax. Few weeks ago i saw some M contours in their shop.

Hows your haggling skills? When i had my jeep i got a set of 31's MTR for 25 bux each with 70% tread left. My other friend picked up some OEM Rubicon 16x8 TJ rims for 50 bux each. You basically go in there and dont leave until you get what you want. Another good place to haggle is Standard Autowerkers, some good shet to be had in their rim and tire warehouse, plus they have FREE PARTS day where you pay 45 bux to enter their yard and basically whatever you can carry out is yours for only that price. I have seen people carry entire engines and transmissions out of that place. thats serious parts whores..

Might even go today. What tools would I need to take a foglight?

Yeah i think they got 2 or 3 e36 in their yard. 4dr though, but check out their website and go to car inventory they usually have that updated frequently. Or do what i do and just call them and ask if they have this model in their yard. If you plan on going to Standard, bring a toolbox, and a BFH (Big Friggen Hammer)

What if I don't know how to take it apart... maybe I should look before I go... I'm looking to get foglight, and maybe even headlights if they look better than mine! Maybe also a button (my rear left window button in the front is broken)

My toolbox is also pretty screwed, the one w/ the big handle that you can snap on pieces to is broken.

springs lower the car..not the shocks. Shocks will improve the ride quality.

Right before Standard Auto Wreckers on Steels, there is a Junk Yard that only deals with bimmers, I dont remember the name of it but theres tons of parts and the guys are easy to bargain with.

Oh sweet. North or south on steels and west or east of where standard auto wreckers are?

If your heading west on Steels, its going to be on thr right hand side about 5min before Standard.
