Was driving on the highway in the bmw, took my exit, and all of a sudden i heard some metal hitting metal kinda sound...
continiued drivng a bit, stopped to check it out..and i couldnt find anything...
Anyways i keep going and went to pick up my mom...on the way back, a hit a bit of a bigger pot hole (nothing huge obviously)....but all of a sudden i hear that same noise except now its dragging on the ground...

Turns out...its a piece of the spring... wtf!
I'll let the pictures do the rest of the explaining...

Any suggestions what now? How unlucky is this... 83,000 KM...Bmw warranty till 80,000...

I'm guessing buying one damn bmw spring will cost me just as much as buying all 4 aftermarket lowering ones?

that's how springs break, they all look like that when they snap

Happened on my E36 as well.... it starts off as a little bit of rust on the spring coil, and then one day.... SNAP!


I find that BMW does a poor job coating their springs when compared to springs like H&R, EIBACHS, etc.

have any suggestions where to get a set of springs and which ones to ger ?

there few ppl selling stock springs and shox for dirty cheap on fanatics..... i dont think he wants to lower it since he wants to sell it...

i saw an article in total bmw magazine saying that its possible in most cars. dirt, water, etc builds up and it'll end up breaking the spring.

damn dude don't lie... you were trying cover up when you tried to cut your springs ricer style :D
