Bruce (temp) seems to be able to find s50's like there's no tomorrow, they seem to go for like 3000-3500
m50's is a different story. High KM ones can go as low as 750-1000, good ones up to like 2500+.
As to actual swapping motors, i dunno, call rocco and ask him. You can put an s54 in a e36, why not a e30?:D

dude dont even think about a motor swap until u take ur car out @ autoX or the track.
the fact is People want more power than they can handle! M20 its more than enough for u trust me!

Learn how to drive your car with it's current power, then look for the next step. Too many rookies want "more power" and yet they can't handle it yet. The type of questions you are asking imply that this is an "urge" that you have, not a "need" , as in your suspension is fully set up, your are driving the car to it's limit, and now you NEED more power to take yourself to the next level.
Sorry if I come off a bit blunt, but the truth is power is nothing if you're not ready for it.

what is your plan for the car??like everyone says to lean what you have and go from there.....you can do m20s strokers,m50s stroker and s50s storkers too,it is how much you what to spend.......but frist take the BMW driving school........

^^ guy are right about the "need" of power and learning to drive first.
Do you just want to accelerate fast in a straight line? No? thought so
then go to a BMW driving school first, practice things you learn, go to some track events, then you'll be ready for more power.
Also how certain are you that your M20 is healthy? M20 E30s can be very fast if they are in the right hands. Take a ride with Tomek once you'll know what i am talking about.
In regard to the engine swap, it depends on how much funds you have available for it.
LS1/6: ??? around $20Gs with seamwelded, reinforced and caged body
are you prepared to dump this kind of money in your e30 and never get them back?
