View Full Version : Alignment for slammed cars

Any suggestions for alignment for cars that are really low?

My reiger front bumper apparently is too low for any kind of laser alignment. Something about the infared light can't go underneath the car because the bumpre blocks it. And because of the extra reinforcement needed for the front bumper, it's a bit of a pain to remove.

They're telling me I need to raise the car nearly 2" if i don't remove the bumper.

My currently clearance is approximately 3" (6cm) off the ground.

Do they have the car on a lift when they try to do the alignment?

You might need to have a non-laser alignment done in which case i would suggest one of two places.

Woodbridge Alignment and Dupont alignment. Probably two of the best places to take your car to for an alignment.

I get my alignments done @ Crown Steering and Brake on Dundas / 427 they've always done a great job and talk to you about what type of settings you want.

Green and ross at midland and lawrence (midland +midwest ) has a decent laser alignment rack. I dont under stand the bumber thing though. Cause on that alighment rack. Theres 4 pieces(lasers) that are attached to your wheel and the lasers point to each other front-rear, rear to front. I dont see what your bumbers has to do with it. ( maybe a diff type.. I unno)

That's how I know the laser alignment works...not sure how or why the bumper gets in the way.

No clue, but they're whining that my reiger bumper is too low and is blocking the laser.

Take it to green and ross.. Its 89 dollars for 4 wheel. maybe 99.. but thats better than 200,.. Is that place giving me a blow job while doing my alighnment. I know a few automotive establishments that would do what im asking for 200.

Not all places can do alignments on lowered cars and I doubt Green & Ross is equipped to do that.

Yes, they can. I know of a few SLAMMED Bimmers done at the Promenade Mall location.

That's how I know the laser alignment works...not sure how or why the bumper gets in the way.

the bumper gets in the way because all the lasers have to see eachother. in other words there is an invisible box surrounding the car when the lasers are hooked up and because the front bumper is too low it won't allow both front sensors to see eachother across the front of the vehicle. Do you know if they used the adapters to drop the front sensors a bit lower? I know the alignment machine at my work had adapters for the front sensors for cases like that but there have also been a few occasions where we have had to remove the front bumper because it's too low

nah, they gave me some lecture about having some $50,000 alignment machine, and that I'd be screwed if I had a flat tire, etc, etc. No mentions of adapters, and far from accomodating, or even giving suggestions.

The rack im talking about. does not require the front wheels to see each other. it requires the front to see the rear. Its got every car programmed in to the machine, it will go to stock with minor adjustments. Or if you have a preference it will do that aswell.

Don't go to Woodbridge Alignment. I made the mistake of going there (twice) and they suck ass, the first time the alignment they gave me was way off (really uneven), the second time they 'aligned' my car by doing nothing but getting my interior coated with compressor oil (all over my steering wheel, seat, carpet).

Cool, Bye no means do I reccomend that place, but its an alignment rack and a monkey with a wrench could do it. Just dont get anything else there, and anything they tell you just say ok. Ill take that into consideration. Im not sure who works there, but theres one guy that will fill out a 30 point inspection without the car on the hoist. I just know they have what you need, and the price is significantly lower than most other places.
