View Full Version : Car just got out of the paint shop

10-31-2002, 09:54 PM
Hey all,

My E30 just came out of the paint shop. The car was completly repainted, all the dings and rust were taken out. I am really happy with the way it looks.

The car looks MUCH better now that I painted my side molding body colour instead of black. I'll post pics when I get them.

And the rattling noise in the cat I spoke of ended up being a peice of the O2 sensor that fell off and is rattling inside the downpipe from the exhaust manafold.

Here are the pics after I had my car painted the same colour. THe only thing you will probably be able to notice is the change in side molding colour. On close inspection, I don't have any more rust ..

What kind of rims are those?

Maty the car looks better....

But can you please do us a favour and lower your damn ride !

1 inch or 2?

Lowering a car is so inconvenient. You always have to be concious of your speed and the condition of the road. I don't want to have to constantly look out for pot holes and have to worrow about getting in and out of my parking garage.

Coil overs are out of budget.

1.5" would be an improvement, and with the right shocks your car shouldn't bounce onto the ground too much.

Looks Great! i'm gonna paint my silver E30 this winter too..

Looks good.... I really like the wheels, but I'm not sure.... Does your car look HIGHER than stock? It really looks HIGH. I think a 2" drop wouldn't even dump it.

Looking very clean, I like it. Totally rejuvinated :P

Heh, but yeah, dropping your ride height a bit would increase the overall apperance. I always though my car was high b/c of the wheel space up at the front, but you seem to have more than mine LOL. Even if you drop the car 1.5" you still have quite a safety margin when going over bumps.

Yes, the rims are AC knockoffs, but they not the cheap Taiwanese ones that bend when you hit a pot hole. They are the Japanese ones.

Your comments have allowed me to come to the conclusion that I will lower the car in the summer. I need to get new shocks though.

The car was painted at Tip Top Auto at Danforth and Vic Park.
I got a pretty good price.

I payed $2000 to remove some minor rust around the bottom of the doors, the gas tank, the wheel well, and remove some dents from the top of the roof from the break in. He painted the whole car the same colour including the trim but did not remove any glass.

Joe is the man to call, he listens to what you want. I'd recomend him to anyone. Tell him Mat with the silver bimmer sent you and he may give you a good deal.
