I'm a bit confused, $299 Buy now, if the apprasial at the begining of this thread is legit that's one hell of a deal

The fact that you'd consider $200, makes me think that you're selling a nicely cut piece of onyx.........appraisal and all.

It's not a scam... These kinds of stones "appraise" much higher than street value. An appraisal is simply a piece of paper that says that somewhere in the world this is the highest price that would be charged at retail for something like this. People like Tiffany's and Birks get appraised prices. These stones have very bad appraisals compared to white stones. A white stone of even bad quality would appraise for over $15,000 USD. Wholesale would be about $5000-$5500 USD... This is a black stone, very small market, very small sell prices...

ok...so why would he consider an offer of $200 if it's worth as much as you say it is? even at $2,000 it smells like a scam because of the rarity of such a stone. If it's legit, he should have absolutely no problem selling it to a jeweller for more than what he's asking.

i'll consider the $200 as the first offer.. i'm not considering it as the sale... some of you guys have no idea about the industry therefore "keep it shut"..

don't some of you guys find it hard to debate a topic that you know nothing about..!!

if you dont' want the diamond don't offer me prices.. and don't call me a scam. i'll bet even my E30 that it's the diamond in the appraisal .. and that it is an authentic black 1.16 carat diamond..

and yes, i have had offers from jewelers, but i wasn't ready to sell it at the time..!

don't be such a hater guys.. i'm just innocently posting a totally legit oddity..!!

relax guys

if you have a problem contact me directly and we can settle it, otherwise keep ASSUMPTIONS and insults to yourselves, as i have done nothing to offend any of you.

I'm well aware of a the value and rarity of a black diamond, however, it would make any buyer skeptikal that you're content with an offer of $200. Some of us do know about this kind of stuff, and it's just odd; the whole way you have gone about selling this "diamond".

An appraisal does not make it more credible either, i can go get you 20 appraisals, but it will not mean that it is the true value of what i'm selling.

I would suggest that whomever does decide to buy this, goes to a jeweller to have the "diamond" inspected before buying. If you don't agree to such terms, then it's quite obvious what's going on here.

All of you who "think" selling it to a jeweller will get you a better amount are SADLY mistaken...

As a jeweller, I can pick up this kind of stone pretty much any day of the week. Let's say that I can get this for $500. Then Dirty E30 comes on by an wants to sell his stone to me... Guess what? I will give him NO WHERE NEAR $500. It would most likely be 1/2 of the wholesale price. Why? I have no buyer for that stone. I may have no buyer for a while. Then what? My money is tied up, inventory is tied up... What would be the benefit if I had bought it at the same price I could get it any day of the week for?

It's like someone offering a PS2 on Maxbimmer for $159... would you buy it? No. You can buy it any day of the week right now for $159 retail!

An appraisal is someone's opinion on the retail replacement value. Notice every appraisal will say "estimated replacement cost" versus the true cost. This is the MAX REPLACEMENT COST in the industry for the market that the appraiser serves.

An appraiser for a reputable gemologist is worth very damn close to the appraisal. I know this appraiser, I use her all the time without problem and without having any of my appraisal's show bogus.
