I'm looking for cheap ultra high performance all season tires for the summer for my 97 540. Had Pilot Sport A/S last summer. Supurb tire, tremendously expensive. Would get the Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S but still a bit too expensive for my current budget. I'm looking for maximum bang for the buck. Looking at the Nexen N3000 and Kumho Ecsta ASX. Has anyone had experience with these?

BAng for your buck go with the Nexen N3000 my friends dad put them on his car and loves them. The Kumbo are good but are a softer tire the Nexen will last longer

Best cheap all-season performance tire: Falken ZE-512. They wear fast, but have incredible dry grip.

for you reference, my friend just put on the nexen performance tire on his audi today and I must say its pretty good for the money. 225/45/17.

for inexpensive tires, your other option is general exclaim UHP, my other friend uses on his s2000 and GOOd.

I am currently using the nexxan n3000's on my daily rear summer rims... they are okay. and because I put on a lot of mileage for work, they make the most sense, since I change tires every season.

You can't go wrong for the price!

I have the original Pilot Sports on the front. they are still running well... the rears wore out fast.

FWIW, the Nexen Eurowin winter tires are my favourite cold season tires, ever. Sidewalls are the stiffest I've seen in the winter tire category.

Because of that experience, I'd actually give their summer lineup a shot.

another follow up on n3000. the tire seems to be on the soft side, making the ride very comfortable. Also, nexen tires are the most extreamly quiet tires ever.

you're right! I can distinguish the difference from my pilot sports on the front, and Nexxen n3000's on the rear...

the pilots are noisier

Thanks guys for your input. I ended up going with the Kumho ECSTA ASX, mostly because of the tirerack survey, http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=UHPAS. I needed tires quick and decided to go with a highly rated tire at an inexpensive price. I had Pilot Sport A/S last year. Great tire, ridiculous price. Afer putting on 1000k on these Kumhos, I can say they are a bit less crisp, but offer a great ride and sufficient grip in corners. Wet traction is very good. All this for $163/tire vs. $290. Can't go wrong. Perhaps I'll try the Nexens next summer. Thanks again everyone.
