Interesting account of one person's experience. I think the dollar amount required can vary a lot depending on the car and where it is coming from, as well as where it is going to be shipped. Do not underestimate the EPA/DOT and Customs bureaucratic B.S. (not to mention the local D.M.V. requirements) which could drive you nuts. I looked into bringing a car from the U.K., but there were too many stumbling blocks. I decided that I would find a car here in the states and save some BIG BUCKS!
Good Luck to anyone wishing to import a car!

My dad and I were considering bringing over our '72 Citroen DS21, just for the sake of it.
