Thinkpad x30 - 1.2Ghz/1GB RAM/60 GB 5400 rpm HD/ DVD/Dock/USB2/5 hr battery/April 06 Warranty

This is an ultralight laptop (1.5 kg)
I bought this used from a company but the unit has never been used and sat on a closet as a back-up.
It has 1 GB of RAM
There is a brand new 60GB 5400 rpm Harddisk (whisper quiet)
Windows XP Pro licenced (I have the latest recovery CDs)
No dead pixels or any scratches of any sort.
The unit is practically brand new. No usage marks on the keyboard etc.
It has warranty until April 2006
It comes with docking station that has a DVD player.
2xUSB, LAN, Modem, Compact Flash Reader, Firewire slots built-in in the system.
I am asking $1150 pick-up downtown Toronto. No trades. Cash and carry only please!
I have added an Adaptec USB2 PCMCIA CARD (adds 2 more USB2 ports) .You will have total of 4 USB ports, 2 USB1.1, 2 USB2 High speed
Also have a wireless Network card PCMCIA - Motorola G which makes the machine wireless.
This thing flies with 1GB RAM and fast Harddisk
Battery lasts 5 hrs when lowest screen brigtness is selected. For normal use with wireless network enabled, I fetched 4 hrs at one point.

I am moving to Apple on laptop soon, otherwise this is a great laptop.

First come first serve.
Please bump as you read :)

Sorry can't help you with games question since last time I played computer games was perhaps 10 years ago.

A look up from the device manager reveals that it has Intel 82830M Graphics Controller. It has 48MB memory size so I am not sure if these would help to answer your questions.

You can bring your games CD along if you like to test before you buy. I am Broadview&Danforth Area.

That's CRAP... The X series ultra light notebooks aren't even made in 2.0 Centrino!!!

Where did you go SEE this? Lenovo's products are NOT carried by any major retailer!

And if you saw 2.0 Centrino for $800, I'll take 10. They are selling for MUCH more then that right now...

Learn a thing or two about the market before you speak. I sell IBM/Lenovo daily.

i don't want to sound like a lowballer but i offer you $525. it is much lower then what you are asking but i think that how much is worth. i have seen refurbished x30 sell for $600 something on the lenovo/ibm website.

True, you may have seen this - however, it would not have included the X3 base, would have been slower and much less in specs, not to mention Windows 2000 versus XP.

I have nothing to gain in defending this sale, but I believe in IBM product, I have seen the quality time and time again and it just urks me to have people not know what these machines are worth... With the x3 base, etc you are looking at at least another $350-$400 worth of accessories...

$800 for a used machine of these specs is about right. You said you saw a Centrino 2.0 machine for $800. That's what I was calling you on - That is totally not possible unless it was hot or someone was really dumb...

There is a BIG difference between a T series and a X series. I'm not trying to argue with you either, but I work in the industry, not as a tech or anything like that, but in sales. I have spent 10 years in it, the last 2.5 in the end of life and refurb market. As a result, I am tuned in with the market pricing of refurb or used products. This is where I'm coming from...

as deep said, there is no comparison. X is an ultralightweight, they are high end, stable, business machines... it's not about CPU processing numbers, it's about stability, reliability, portability, and long battery life. Both the X and T series are geared towardsa professional business personalle, the X series is more about portability though, they are ultra-lightweights. It's focus is around long battery life (typically 5+ hours while under full load, and days while at idle.), portability (usually weighing in at only a few pounds... around the same weight as a can of peas.)

"the cpu speed" is not the deciding factor to the value of a laptop, and is not an accurate number to judge the speed of the system.

I'm sure Deep will provide more/better clarification.

It all depends on what you want.

T Series
- based on 2 spindle design (IE Hard drive and optical drive)
- no floppy
- generally weight in the 4.9 to 5.5 lbs range depending on options.
- battery life between 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on use and battery type.
- overall bigger notebook then the X series, but smaller then most, about 1" thick.

X Series
- based on 1 spindle design (IE Hard Drive only)
- no floppy
- weight in the 3 lbs range
- battery life in the 3 to 8 hour range, depending on processor and battery used (New X Series have ULV processors ULV=Ultra Low Voltage)
- VERY small footprint
- x3 or x4 ultrabase dock can be added. This will give you optical drive support. This dock is NOT stationary, meaning you can add it and take it with you. You can add a secondary battery, optical drive, or 2nd hard drive into the base.

See the differences now? The T series is for corporate who wants portability, but is not concerned about weight or massive battery life. The X series is for the REAL road warrior who wants the best in battery and portability. This thing barely feels like it's on your shoulder! Your bag will weight more then the notebook!
