Is that 'shipped' price including tax and all?? I hope you're going through a local (Cdn) source. Let me know what the best price you can get this for - I may be able to get equal or better from one of my contacts. That's if there's decent amount of interest.

MV325IS and I have a price of approx $600CDN shipped from the states with the vendor labelling them as "Replacement Warranty Parts". This should save us on the taxes and customs.

I'm working on contacting Craig @ Performance Parts Store who ships from IL to CA for $435USD so I think he can get us a good price.

If you guys need something shipped to the states i can pick it up for you, gotta arrive before Xmas and not be huge.

ps. i may need some new springs, i got a 328 sport package, i dont really want much of a drop. what do you recommend?

mirek
12-09-2005, 01:47 PM
then go for the H&R sport springs.. not a huge drop, just a nicer sport stance.

I've got the race springs, bigger drop.. i'm mr plow in the winter..

Guys, can we keep this strictly to the GB topic? It's going to get diluted with too many questions.

Propone - if you post that question in a new thread, you might get more response as people will see the topic and those knowledgable will respond.

UPDATE:

I've spoken with Craig at PPS (http://www.performancepartsstore.com/) and he's confirmed that his price on e36 Bilstein Sport Shocks is $485 including shipping to the GTA. (the price is actually $435 but that's with general USPS service that has no time guarantee or tracking info, so it's $50 extra for the upgraded shipping).

He's looking into H&R but doesn't normally carry it, so if anyone else has found good prices on the H&R Sport Springs, PM me.

Custom/Duty/Taxes:

Perhaps someone who has purchased from the states can chip in on this conversation?

1. COST: $485USD = $563CDN
2. TAX: $563CDN x 1.15 = $648CDN
3. DUTY: I don't know the rate on auto parts. Craig @ PPS is looking into it.
3. CUSTOMS: Same thing...

Option #2. MV325IS is looking into an ebay seller that will sell for $528USD shipped. He said he will mark the packages "Warranty Parts Return" which is supposed to save us on taxes and/or duty. Does anyone know any more about this?

Option #3. MV325IS is looking into a price from Tunerworks (out in Alberta I believe).

Option #4. Mirek has $800CDN local. - Mirek is this for one unit? Can you get the price down if we're buying like 8-9?

Now what we really need is for a local vendor to step up to the plate and offer us a good price. It's kinda sad that we're sourcing from the states and I would prefer to buy local if a vendor can present us with an offer.

What about our MaxBimmer "Sponsors"?

///M-TRD3

If QMR is down, can you ask if this group buy can be extended to E36 & E30 Owners, it may get more people in total on the list which will help the price, and Im looking for Bilstein Sports.
Let Me Know, Thanks.

uber e36
12-19-2005, 11:49 AM
OK,

After calling UPS SCS and Customs, I have come up with a more accurate number...

Currency
$485USD = $564CDN

Duty
$564 x 6% = $598

Tax
$598 x 15% = $688

Customs
$76CDN

TOTAL:
$764CDN

I've asked him to see if we can reduce the price a bit. I suggested that perhaps we go with the less expensive shipping (saves $70CDN) but we won't have a gauranteed delivery time (4-6 weeks approx).

Would you rather wait for the shocks and save $70? I personally don't mind because my car is stored...

for an extra 36$ we can get them locally, and not worry about customs\duty\shipping, and we support a local vendor. Also that's with 6 sets, i'll contact him again ask how much if we get 9 like we currently have, but my guess is half of these people will back out anyways

uber e36

Mirek,

I agree with you. Hopefully there is not a large backout number though. I have mentioned to PPS that we can go local for an extra few dollars and asked them to sharpen their pencils.

Who is the vendor you are speaking with? Once I get QMR the list of vehicles, they will also get us a price.

Talked to my buddy, $335 Tax in for H&R sports 5 or more sets. If you guys want to do this, i'd need payment for all 5 sets, then he'll order them.

800$ is the best he can do on bilstein's. I saw the wholesale prices, he's barely making anything on them, enough for a couple coffees lol..

uber e36
12-19-2005, 05:47 PM
Ok, Mirek let's wait to hear back from Carmen @ QMR and Craig @ PPS and go with the better price.

I know your contact seems to be a friend of yours, so you'd prefer to give him business, but if the others come up less expensive, then we should go with them...

Also: Craig at PPS raised a good point. Customs wants to charge $76 each, but if we ship them all together to one spot and distribute from there, we'll reduce this charge to $15 each. This would bring PPS price to $703 which is almost $100 less than your quote. AND he's still looking into a price reduction for us...

Let's give it a couple days and lay all our quotes on the table.

UPDATE:

I have emailed the complete list (including the non-e36 requests) to:
- Carmen @ QMR
- Craig @ PPS

I have no personal connection or tie to either shop, so I'm strictly working on a lowest price policy here.

Craig has told me that his boss is dying for this business and they are looking at everyway to get us the cheapest deal. One example is that duty/tax is charged on the product and not the shipping cost. So they'll charge us wholesale on the product and just up shipping cost, so we're charged duty/tax on a the lowest price possible. He also said that if the quantities stay where they are, they might just drive the parts across the border themselves and deliver them to one central spot in the GTA.

I'll wait to hear back from Carmen.

Basically I'm going to get the final final numbers from the suppliers and we can choose then.

It would help if you can PM me your email. That way any updates can be sent in an email to everyone in order to expedite communication!

$225.29 (with 6% duty)
$259.09 (with 15% tax)
$309.09 (with $50 shipping) ($25 if you're also buying the shocks)
$360.95 CDN Total ($332 if you're also buying the shocks)

Others
///M-TRD3: $621.60 for your e30

so what exactly are we going to pay PPS.

the price of the item (429) - USD.
plus the cost of shipping (50) - I am assuming this is in USD also.

and then we pay border fee's but not to PPS

6% duty - USD or CDN
15% tax - USD or CDN

plus whatever the exchange rate is .19

I just want to make sure they are not going to charge us border fee's.
and then get charged border fee's again.

 *wave*

^^^

Yup, we pay PPS for only the product and shipping ($50USD for shipping of either shocks or springs OR $75USD for shipping of both together).

Then we pay duty/tax at Canada Post when it arrives.

My goods are shipping on Friday! :P

Who else has ordered?

UPDATE: Spoke with Craig today and he's making customs/tax easy for us... If you pay him the total, he's taking care of all of that with UPS so we don't have to pay anything when it shows up at our door. I gave him the cash already, so looking forward to their arrival!

The vendor is www.performancepartsstore.com use their site to contact them and direct your question to Craig, he's the one running it from their side... Tell them that you're part of MaxBimmer and Geoff told you about the Group Buy and you want to know about your E46 springs...
