evosport are probably the best ones out there... Most people on BF.c like them.

the other nice option would be the eurosport ones (www.sharked.com) as they are lightened.

nice. so ive got a few ideas

UUC's
Evosport
Eurosport
unorthodox racing

any others to consider? i really dont want one that changes the crank, or changes the alternator, i dont mind if they lighten the alternator, but i dont wanna underdrive it.

There's also RougeEngineering... Those are the ones I use.

The best way you can narrow down this list is to decide if you want to underdrive your alternator (some kits only come with 2 pulleys). I highly suggest you don't do that as it can put stress on your electrical system without much of a power gain. Usually kits with only 2 pulleys are a lot less expensive too. FYI the eurosport kit has an alternator pulley but its the same size, only lighter... evosport gives you an option if I remember - same size or larger (underdrivven).

does lighter really make a difference? and no i dont wanna underdrive my alternator, but i would like to optomize my performance

Then your choices are Rouge (2 pulleys), Evosport (3 pulleys) and eurosport (3 pulleys). Just comes down to price which is about $100 difference (CND) for an extra pulley.

Personally I would say that ligther is not going to make that much of a difference. not one you can feel by any means. I would go with the RE ones. They are very well made and I've had them on both my engines (2.8 and now the 3.2 S54). You don't really feel the acceleration that the pulleys add only difference is that the engine feels more responsive.

wait isnt RE a 4 piece kit?

also an add on question, should i bother doing a fan delete mod? will they conflict with each other? which do you think will give me better results if they do conflict

thanks again

no, fan delete is a good mod, make sure you change your thermostat and the electric fan switch though... don't bother with the water wetter.

the RE kit is a 2 piece kit, water pump and power steering pump. Then of course a new belt as well. They go for 165 USD if I remember.

BTW, you need to take the fan out anyways when you're installing the pulleys so might as well do the fan delete mod.

no worries wiht the fan delete? ill obviously have to get my aux fan fixed, i wont need any other device to make this happen?

Why not bother with the water wetter??

i would also like to know why not use the wetter? is there a negative effect to using it, or do you feel its useless?

JazzM

I heard it has corroding properties.

So does water, that's why you have the coolant in there. Coolant has anti-corrosion properties :) I've been running a 30/70 mix (coolant to water) and a couple bottles of redline since I bought my car. I replaced my water pump a couple months ago and both the water pump and the water pump cavity in the block were spotless.

Also, the corroding properties you mention only really matter if you never change your coolant, which you should be flushing yearly if you hit the track occasionally. Water wetter, like glycol coolant will lose it's anti-corrosion properties over time from heat-cycling and age.

The water wetter is a necessary part of the fan delete mod. It increases cooling efficiency and with the reduction in water tension, it will actually give you a (very slight) power gain, dyno proven too.

You could also use Cyclelogic Engine Ice coolant as a replacement as well.

now should i just buy the fan delete from say understeer or is it cheaper to put together myself? if myself, where can obtain all the particulars

You can get everything minus the water wetter from the dealership. Price it out, figure out the difference. If you're going to go with understeer, get an aluminium thermostat housing as well. Actually, just make a huge order and get the Eurosport pullies too :P

P.S. Sickfinga has an electric fan for sale. :D

water has corrosive properties, that's why you should be using distilled water with coolant in your cooling system..

JazzM
12-08-2005, 01:59 PM
or get the premixed stuff.

thinair

Premixed BMW coolant exists? It'd be useless for me due to my non 50/50 mix, but I'm curious.

mirek
12-08-2005, 05:07 PM
no, bmw coolant does not come premixed... you can premix it yourself and keep it stored, but bmw does not sell it premixed

thinair
12-08-2005, 05:10 PM
That's what I do already then, just wondering, usually premixed coolant is a rip off anyway, distilled water is cheap.

i will update you come spring time, im gonna do it all one shot so ill have to give you guys the full update....

of course my theory was underdrive pullies (lightened alternator because i dont wanna underdrive it) i did wanna look into underdriving the crank but i do wanna do a flywheel change in the spring.. so with the understanding that i cant change both , i decided to help on the crank side, i would just delete the fan. should be interesting to see what ill be able to get down on the dyno come spring... im hoping for 225-230 to the wheels but we will see.. my performance mods by spring should be so..

motronix CAI
stromung exhaust
markD chip
A/C delete
fan delete
eurosport underdrive pullies

other things i have to still get/order...

bore throttle body
injectors 24lbs
lightweight flywheel
540 MAF

mirek

my guess would be < 200.. you have a 325 right?

Furious
12-08-2005, 11:39 PM
technically its a 325 :D but im still looking to get around 225-230ish

thinair
12-08-2005, 11:43 PM
As a note, 325's with various bolt-ons can reach 200rwhp+. 328's even easier, I'm still aiming for 210rwhp once I hit the dyno in the spring.

Furious
12-09-2005, 02:22 AM
i have full confidence you can reach that goal nelson your car has very tastefull and very usefull mods done.

You sure you want to delete your AC?

I dont know man, without FI, i'm hard to believe 225-230. If you dyno and you do reach it, let me know, i'll retract my statement :)

thinair
