moments ago, while my car was parked on the street (because the rust proofing is still dripping) a elderly gentlemen backed into my car. luckily there wasn't too much damage but there was damage. i thank him for actually coming to my house and telling my what happened instead of taking off.

now here are the pics..what do you think the cost would be to repair it?
it's right behind the driver door. the driver door is unharmed.

My guess is $300-500

Or you can try the "ghetto" method- take a toilet plunger, suck it onto the dent and pull. It'll work. All you got to do after is get the bodyshop to smooth it out and paint, and it'd save you considerable $.

i wish....the guy said he'll pay for the damages.
i'm going to pass by carstar and see how much they will charge to fix that peice.
hopefully they can get it to blend in really nice. now when they fix it, are they just going to bondo it or actually cut that peice out and put new metal in or what? i really don't want to have that much bondo on my car.

Ouch...sorry to see that damage...I would say that this will be over $500.

They will probably try pulling it first.

^^^ And then they will bondo over the low spots, sand, prime, paint.

$400-$600 since you have to paint all the way around... it can't just be blended since it goes above the moulding. if you need a place to do it, lemme know.

This is a VERY bad spot to work at! Its at the edge which is hard to knock out...I dont think anyone will do a good job for less then $1000, sure it can be done for $500 but you dont want to do that, trust me!

I think the estimates are too low- I'm going to Price Is Right you all.

I think any decent / higher end body shop is going to easily want over $1000 for that repair. The damage is over the belt trim and the paint may have to be faded into the door.

^ watch the repair be $999 and you bid over and you lose we win

yes rear quarters are the worst place to get hit.

Just the sides would look damn funny. And cover up the problem.

I say by the pic i'd estimate about 1000-1200, and yes its a bad place to get hit. Its about 15-20 hours book time!

ya the guy is being really nice about it. instead of taking off he acutally went to my neighbour's house seeing if it was their car then came to my house and tracked me down to show me. he is going to pay for the damages and is also throwing in some boeing 767 simulator time for me and my brother since he was a pilot for air canada and retired with the 747 and now is a simulator instructor. i'm going to go to Seneca Auto Body (his request) and get a quote from there.
anyone heard anything about them? just off of lakeshore between hurontario and cawthra???
what made the damage worse was that the pillar near the bottom of the door is damaged a little and my estimate says 6 hours repair, 6 hours paint then the rest is disassembly and other stuff like overspray coating and reassembly.

Just so you get an idea and most people would think its a lot of time but it really isnt, I painted a friends car during spring and put about 150 hours into prep work and assembly, the car was clean with minor dings and I did the car as a favor for him for really cheap. The car sold on ebay recently!

i wouldn't call this dent a minor ding. it goes about half inch to an inch in and the pillar is a little messed too.

anyways, if i could get some info on seneca auto body it would be appreciated.
