Yeah, they use them in Touring car racing and some BMWCCA Club Racers use them as well.

If they switched places, she would kill him, that chick was awesome sideways. She also seemed flawless with the SMG

If ever I get super rich, again :), I have to drive an F1 car. The sound is awesome. I have the EA Sports F1 Challange so would crank up my 5point Surrond sound on the PC and race with no PC assistance. I have built my own chassis, but lost the flipping setup when my HDD had a glitch.

I love Spa in Belgium and mastered it, it's the worlds longest and most challanging F1 track.
Anyone else ever tried F1 challange?

The easiest way is play it through windows media player, and when you are done watching and the stream is complete just go to the file menu and click save as, and it will save it to your drive from the temporary download folder, so that you don't have to download it again.

That was an awesome vid...Nice find *th-up*

You mean if they put her in the F1 car, she woudl beat Tiff's time in the F1 car?

If that is your point, I think you don't know much about who Tiff Niedel is :huh?:

What could be the flaws of a person using a squential gearbox, other then hitting the rev limitor before shifts?

i think they prolly capped some RPM's or Some speed since the he wasnts trained for that much power in a light weighted car. wat do u guys think?

How many meanings are there in "switching places"? No I meant Vicky in the Williams F1 car and Tiff in the M5.

Have you ever driven a car with an SMG?
Do you think if you were to be placed in car with an SMG that you will know at what given time you must shift and what gear you are in WHILE RACING??????

People miss shifts sometimes on cars with regular gearboxes while racing much more on a car which has a paddle type msg. Even in F1 and WRC, you see guys miss shifting the smg sometimes, either blowing up under high revs or stalling under low revs.

You make yourself sound like Shumy about people not having flaws shifting an smg.

Vicky drove the sh!t out of the M5 and all I was doing was giving her credit for it. And yes, I know who Tiff is as all we were exposed to in the Caribbean under British rule was British racing.

FYI, when racing and under heavy pressure, shift lights almost becomes obsolete. All you do is use your five senses at that point. Look for your attackers, listen to your engine (for shifting) sniffing for smoke, oil or fuel fumes, feeling the G's to determine braking and cornering and hoping to taste the sweetness of the checked flag.

Try it sometime.

You can not misshift with SMG, it wont let you downshift if it know it will overrev the engine

Some do, on both the F1 and WRC race cars. On Luxary domestic cars there are features that won't allow it.

There is no electronically assisted smg's on these race cars.

I have owned an SMG vehicle. Have you?

You don't need to be Schumi nor need special talent to drive an SMG equipped vehicle. As long as u know how to get it going you are fine. These guys are automobile journalists, I am sure Vicky has driven sequential boxed cars before. You make it sound like you need a special talent to be able to drive a squential gear boxed car.

If you didn't know the rally cars and f1 cars (as u see in the video) have clutches which you control with the paddles, and the sequential boxes that come on road cars have no such thing, so stalling a production bmw with an smg box is next to impossible. Unless you have a faulty SMG Controll unit, it is not supposed to stall.

Their tranmissions are offcourse electronically assited. Its not a mechanical process where they pull the lever and shifts up and down. And some F1 cars actually have an overrev button that allows them to overrev the engine. It is uncommon to overrev the engine in any sort of racing, they do have multiple stage rev limitors on their cars. I don't know where you get your info from.

My friend happens to own a Group N Escort Cossy that has a 6 speed sequential box, and it wont overrev.

You can own a turbo charged mule for all I care as you are behind a monitor, and even if so, you are still driving a car with an smg which has an SMG Controll unit.

Why do you think the cars has an MSG control unit? It's for all the silly monkey's who buy them and needs to be monitored for overreving due to miss shifting.

I do own a new BMW, and unlike some who needs all the electronic assistance, all of mine are switched off, including the Dynamic, Stability Control. Driving with all of your own ability and unreached natural brain feed back is the sheer pleasure of driving.

If you didn't know, the little thingy on the paddle which controls the clutch is called Launch Control :D

From what I know, not from what I hear and believe.

Read this, "The choice of fitting 6 or 7 forward ratios is provided for in some of the gearboxes, notably Benetton and Jordan. The decision on how many to actually fit for a given event, is mainly a function of matching engine characteristics to the circuit and the driver's preferred style. With gear-change times down to around 2 hudredths of a second, any development to reduce them yields a diminishing return in exchange for potential greater risks of a MISS-SHIFT."

found here http://www.grandprix.com/ft/ft00264.html

I am talking BMW F1 and miss shifting here, now you are onto your friends Ford Cossy and then your SMG.

I OWNED and built race cars if you would like to know and since you are in Ottawa, why don't you drop around with your smg car and I can see you car and at the same time show you some of my racing history and my memorabilia :D

I don't really have anything to prove either, but when I see people just yapping, and misinforming the board on some aspects, it raises my blood pressure :)
I am not exactly young you know :)
In fact when I read a thread here about some of of the guys saying a bar in TO had OLDER women in their 30ies, I nearly tripped out. These would be chicks in my sight :D

Also remember, you were the one challanging my knowledge about Tiffy in F1 and smg's. I am a or try to be a cool, humble (hate to brag) kind, helpful person. So you stepped on my big toe real hard and I had to yell real hard. :D
