The only downside with a retractable hard top is u lose a lot of trunk space.

The cab's trunk is already small as it is. I wonder if the new would even fit a golf bag.

a hard top vert BMW has gotta be one of the best all around daily drivers that I could ever imagine.

I think it's about time. This is more practical in Canada then a rag top. When all the other high end factories offer hard top vert, they must follow.
My father wanted a Z4 a few year ago but didn't want to pay $3000 for the hard top for winter. It they had this, I would have access to a Z4 insted of his G35 coupe.

Im confused about hardtops..

do they fold out like the rag tops cept they are hard, or do you got to put the top on (i.e. a seperate peice?)

theres 2 kinds, e46 cabs have a hardtop option where its what you put on top (separate piece) yet they are talking about a folding hardtop, basically like the e46 cabrios have now, except no canvas but rather metal or whatever material it may be

It's basically a folding roof. It's not a soft top but nearly a complete roof that splits and then goes down into the trunk.
Mercedes has had these for years now, finally we are getting them.
