Hey ladies & gents...I'm pretty new to this forum and need some help. I have a 97 318i. I have had it for ~2yrs. In that period of time i have put in a complete M3 interior and body kit. It also has AC schnitzer type 3 rims 17" rims. Unfortunately it was recently in an accident and is now in the shop for repairs. The owner of the shop is a really good friend of mine so he painting over the entire car for me and doing soem other body work.

Here is where i need help. While the car is in the shop my friend is willing to do any work that i want. I'm already putting on Brembo big brakes frt & rear and probrably changing by shock mounts. What else should i have down while the car is there? the possibilities are endless... so i'm looking for some suggestions!
NOTE: I was thinking of a motor swap (2.8 or 2.5) but the brake kit is draining my funds. Any help will be much appreciated.

Looks hot..... your right, the possibilities ARE endless. I would recomend either a bigger engine or a DA Supercharger. Get some more power in that bad boy!!

nice looking ride..

get some heavy duty Rear suspension mounts, stockies die really quick..
stainless brake lines?
all you bushings are good? control arms, sways, etc//
uuc lightened flywheel $$$$500 U.S. //makes for quicker revs..
stock flywheel ( if dual mass) is 27/28pounds.. *thmbsdwn*

I can sell you a pre made turbo manifold and then you can have your car
Turbo'd?? :P

Not exactly..my friend did the same thing b4 he did his m3 swap. Honestly i don't want any motor work done right now i'd rather sort out my suspension, interior and maintenance items.

$950 CDN thats probably $650/700 U.S.
Im running a Garret T28R ( efficient to 20psi) the manifold has a T3 fitting.
Still have the A/C & stock motor mounts; the passenger side needed a little grinding to fit the t28..

anyways the manifold is the hard part to make ( super cramped engine bay time con$uming)
so once you have this any shop that does Fi on cars could throw it together Fast!

 yeah it will be Better! :D

CRAMPED SPACE?? ON A 318?!? You can only imagine how the Turbo 6cyl guys feel!!

Good price on a Manifold too, but too bad you can never make a Turbo 318 faster than a 325 or 328,

Yeah it does look similar in it's tightness's BUT guys are already making
"mani's" on there own & lots of different "kits"

There is no online retailer that has mani's for M42/M44 all by them selves
it's da truth!

"but too bad you can never make a Turbo 318 faster than a 325 or 328,"

hmm, I was putting car lengths on my bro's chipped cam'd lighter 2.5L E30

Hey I'll just asume you MEANT to type TURBO'd 325's & 328's
& that you're not infact some type of know it all, know nuthin..
ya know? like ill pretend you didn't eat lead paint chips as a kid
cause a Fi'd 318 can make more power then a Na 325/328 easy!

What color are you paniting it?

I would recommend getting a M bodykit, supercharge your motor or turbo. Instead of big brake kit why not get M3 brakes that way you'd have some money left over.

Dont waste money on a BBK. It wont help your stopping distance at all, only brake fade and looks (and from the what I can tell, you will only benefit from the looks). Put the money directly into a motor swap. 32x/M3 would be easiest. You could also get black tint...

I think the BBK will be overkill for a street car as well, go for something a little less extreme, like 330 front and rear. If you feel you need to go for larger brakes later on for some reason, then you'll have no problems selling them and get a BBKS then.

I was ON YOUR SIDE MAN. That comment i made was sarcastic (hence the eyeroll) who ever said a FI 318 is slower than a NA 6 banger is a MORON!

i say upgrade to M3 brakes, do a little bit of suspension work, and then focus in on performance...supercharger, turbo, all motor...whatever you want
