my check engine light came on a few days ago when i stuck an friends OBD reader it popped up a cylinder 5 misfire i went to one mechanic and he couldnt figure it out its like the car will sometimes run fine and as soon as it revs over 6000 rpm it will run like shit and when you come to a stop the car shakes if anybody knows plz help.(it only runs like shit for bout ten minutes after it revs to past 6k) . i thought it might be the coils but the mechanic said no and i just changed the sparkplugs a month ago.

ouch.... same thing happened to me when i was down in guelph last week, i think it might be something in the air there!
Do a compression test. I replaced my plugs cause the car was running like shit and it was a misfire, after the compression test, it actually turned out to be fried piston rings. YAY!!

Switch the coil around with another cylinder.
If the misfire moves to that cylinder its the coil, if it stays on cylinder 5, its something else.

misfires are never fun to try and fix man, but do go ahead and try changing the coils around, get new sparks...
and cross your fingers that it won't need head work :S
