I dont know what happend, i knew when i bought the car that both fog lights were cracked, the driver side one worse, and soon a piece fell out leaving a hole in my lense, the passenger side was ok, no major issues just cracked. well im out side today checking my oil and relocating my second horn and i look down, and half my passenger side fog light lense is missing.

So im like WHAT THE F*CK!!!, and i look around to see if the piece is on the ground, no so i ruled out my asshole neighbor kicking it in, unless he was actualy smart enough to pick up the piece but i doubt that....

So now i have two fuked up fog lights. and i cant take it any longer so i went and orderd new fog lights which should be here maybe by the end of the week. I decided to be different (as always) and go for the projector foglights. For those who have never seen them b4 heres a pic.

Once they arive im gonna get rid of the old ones, if anyone wants them ill sell them cheap as they are broke. Most likely complete with brackets and very bright super white h1 bulbs.

Once my new ones come ill post and show u all how it looks. Oh and ill be wearing my flame suit for anyone who cares to toast on. *wave*

...and very bright super white h1 bulbs.

Ding ding ding!

Those stupid ricer bulbs have a blue coating, and they get extremely hot. Because of this, the second cool water touches a lens that has been for a while, the glass instantly shatters. Besides that, the lighting sucks.

Everyone stop buying blue bulbs.

as Mystikal said... those bulbs are higher wattage than OEM bulbs. (55w vs 50w) and get considerably hotter. e36 foglights are prone to shattering already, there have been huge issues with this until they were reinforced internally in 95. If you turn them on in the winter, the mix of hot/cold heating up the glass will cause it to crack. There are ways around this though.. personally, I drilled some holes and vented my foglights, and upgraded my wiring for the higher wattage. I hate yellowish lights.

There is nothing wrong with using the xenon gas filled bulbs with the blue glass (not blue painted glass) as long a syou buy something high quality... (not eurolite!). And you also upgrade the rest of your lighting system to support it. If you can't afford HID's, but would like the brighter lighting, then it's an alternate solution to the dull yellowish stock halogens.

It's been around 3 years with the blue-glass xenon-filled bulbs for my entire car... (interior + exterior) and have never had a problem.

The same bulb without a blue tint is still much brighter. Such as Osram Silverstars (not the crappy Sylvanis ones sold in North America), or any Phillips performance bulb.

You're right... Philips performance bulbs is what I use... still xenon filled (20%-50%) without the blue tinted glass. However, I use the 4000k philips performance blue's for the kelvin intensity. Both are still brighter than the stock halogens, but both also still get much hotter than halogens. He'd still have had the same problem with them, shattered foglights. Venting my lights with a vent tube have done the trick for me... the only bulbs I've ever had to replace on the entire car are my brake lights so far. Mind you, I upgraded all the wiring and fuses to go along with it.

i know all about how bmw's cant handle higher wattage bulbs. Which is the exact reason why i bought bulbs that werent higher then what the stock wiring was made for. They arent the typical ebay cheap crap thats painted blue which soon fades to yellow (eurolite). i made sure when i bought them, that i got good bright ones that wouldnt cause any problems.

As for what was mentioned about water hitting the bulbs, i never turned my fogs on in the rain for that specific reason because of how bad the cracking and the holes were. Dont worry i did my homework on all of that b4 i did anything...

Anywho the bulbs i bought were more for the clean bluish white look because of the fact that to me the stock bmw fog lights seem to have almost no effect when driving. to dim not enough light etc...

Dunno how it is on E30s, but on my car, fog lights' glass barely gets warm.
so i dont see how it would crack if i get water on the glass

BMW fog lights just suck. They always crack.

My foglights are plastic, and opaque gray, so they dont get cracked or faded. They look nice and unnoticable until I turn them on

It's physics. Tinted bulbs get hotter, no matter who makes them.

traitor j/k :P

delivery is estimated at 5-7 days, now i sit and suffer and wait for them to come, then i pick out which bulbs to replace the boring standard ones they send with them. The new bulbs will be h3 not h1

PIAA is overpriced garbage. They're only considered good quality when compared to all of the other ricer bulbs out there.

If you really want to keep the whole "super white" deal going on for whatever reason, get Phillips BlueVision bulbs.

I haven't experienced any problems with any products by Sylvania either. And trust me, I tried a lot of those blue bulbs ;)

If you want more light, just go HID, u'll save yourself a lot of trouble. They run a lot cooler than regular hallogen bulbs too.

If you went through 6 pairs of hallogen bulbs, u'r already half way to purchasing HID's already.

say all you want, but piaa has proven to me to be bright put the light where i need it, give me the look i want and be well worth the money, in the last 4 years do you know how many sets of bulbs i had to buy..... 1. I plan to maybe go HID, just not yet, have to put money towards other things....

OH and why is it rice? why is everything that people do on here to satisfy them self and create the look they are going for rice? Its not like im sticking a 10 foot high spoiler on my back and painting it bright yellow. or slapping on a ton of decals and calling my car a race car... seriously get off the word rice and let people be individuals. Im doing my thing you do yours and i promise you, no "rice".

as for light out put ive found personally that the blue bulbs i used in the past put out more light then standerd halogen bulbs. the only downside was that in the rain they sucked. that being because blue light doesnt refract in water it gets absorbed. but hey i never wrecked so. *wiggle*

I've already had to accept that the mods I did to my car classifies it as rice on this forum. Unless it's OEM or some big brand name mod, it's rice apparently. Oh yeah, and you can't mix BMW car parts... no e36 front bumper on an e30, and no e46 m3 mirrors on an e36. It's not allowed either.

Having blue bulbs (even though they shine white, not blue) makes your car rice too.

Damn us ricers... ruining BMW's good name!

like seriously, why not have everyhting in english? what's with with this GT-X bullshit?
How does grand turismo apply to a light bulb??

Justin, I've seen your car, and I haven't seen anything on it that would most people call rice.

I dont think e36 m3 front bumper looks good on e30. Same with e46 bumper on e36. I would call these mods rice though.

lol couldnt have said it better myself. It reminds me of old school muscle cars, how many times do you see them take body parts as well as engines and other crazy stuff and put it on their car to make it unique and stand out from everyone else. I guess all those guys that modded cars from back in the 50's till now.... were ricers.... damn such a shame on the history of automobiles. :(

not all piaa bulbs come in a case like that, the previous ones i bought did not, everything was in english, perhaps they are from japan or were supposed to be shipped to japan.

But thats not fair either though, most every product i buy from any store for anything has one half in english the other in spanish, then theres also french and german on it.

When comparing fog light performance, not bling factor, you should consider that a fog light is designed to work alone anyway, not with the low beams on. In fact, when it's really foggy out - like peas soup foggy, you're supposed to drive slow (duh), and the fog lights light up stuff on the side of the road like the curb to keep you on the road. Looking ahead is pointless beacause of the reflection. What that means is that light output is not really important, since you aren't trying to outpower the fog, or light up something far away (hi beams).

We very rarely get fog like that here in Toronto. And when we do, the daytime running lights create a nasty brown glare anyway. Thanks MTO...

In reality, I think most of us just turn them on for looks.

i got HID's and i never have a problem anymore .. i tried the blue bulbs once ... got pissed at them when they burned out after 2 months ... saved up .. got BMW hid's from E46 and fitted them into these headlights with new 6000K bulbs... halogen is the same as when you're trying to find the bathroom in the dark compared to HID ... and mine only run at 35 watts ... hmm thats a good thing

THEY CAME!!!! and they are awesome, very sweet looking and fit in perfect with my black car. dont have pics yet, well i do, but they suck and u cant see anything, but as soon as i can get decent pics you all will see.

One problem, i need to aim them and i cant find my flat haead screw driver to pop them out and adjust them *sad* so for the moment they light up the ground right infront of them, lol so right now they are even more pointless then stock fogs on a bmw :P anywho ill fix them and take pics asap. AWESOME BUY
