For anyone who cares, BMW has relased the specs on the new 323i as the new base model starting at just $35,200.

It will come with a de-tuned version of the european 325i motor, which is a 2.5L inline-6, producing 173hp and has a crazy 11:1 compression ratio. The euro motor puts out 217hp.

Other cost saving deletions include saying goodbye to: xenon lights w/angel eyes and foglamps, 17 inch wheels (even as options), dual resonance intake, body colour roof strips, chrome pipes, auto dimming mirrors, automatic dual control HVAC, cruise control, chrome BMW kickplates, heated seats, folding seats with ski bag, and a 6 speaker stereo instead of a killer 10 speaker with dual subwoofer setup.

E90 w/o elipsoids looks weird.

damn, im thinking the same thing, with all that stuff taken out, how is it still worth so much, it should be well under 30 for what your getting now, like at least 29,999 or something...

It seems to me that BMW is too concerned with that lower market than the market they 'should' be concentrating on. "M Division" :D

I think 325 should remain the base. and if they want to bring in a lower market, consider 1 series comming to NA.

They should come up with a 330i enthusiast special, which would be a 330i with NO toys. The only thing it will come with is the 258hp 3.0L, the 18" sport package rims, M appearance package, manual adjust sport seats and sport suspension. Nothing else. NO fancy radio, NO traction control, NO dual auto HVAC, NO chrome kickplates, NO auto headlights, NO rain sensing wipers, NO adaptive brakelights, hell, no useless little flashlight in glovebox- you get the idea, NO useless stuff!!

The only option: the 325i...$40,300

the weight <2600lbs,
0-60: 5 sec range.
price $35,200.

Now THAT would be a base model. You force everyone who wants to cheap out into a real performer- when they come back for more, they sure won't be looking for something "slower". You'll satisfy posers with the M appearance. You'll satisfy old time enthusiasts. You'll attract a generally younger crowd who would normally be heading for similarly priced WRX's, SRT-4's, RSXes....

well they definately need something to fill the 150hp gap that will be between the 330 and the new M3.

mmmm would be like a m3csl only in 4 door mmmmmm. also folding seats and ski bag are an option on the new bimmers. 1200 option on the E60......... stupid if you ask me cause the car needs more cargo capacity for the times you HAVE to take it to home depot.
