I have 94 318i.
The Headlight was prewired from factory to turn on when the
car starts even when the switch is off. This car doesnt have the
day time light as later models. the main low beam come on
day and night. As it kills my light bulb easily, can somebody tell me
how to re wire the damn thing, so I can turn the freaking head light
off at day time..???

i'd like to know that answer as well
i've got mine hooked up to my highbeam wires so i just flick on the highbeam switch to turn on my headlights.
( i never use highbeams anyways, especially with the H7 foglight conversion )

I'm guessing you need some sort of relay or switch from an american bmw which doesn't have day time running lights.
You can also either add in your own on and off switch and mold it into the dash board console, or you can somehow wire them up to the foglight on/off switch.

just some ideas to think about

Try the American headlight relay swap. Maybe that will allow your car to run without the headlights on all the time. More info on this can be found here (http://www.unofficialbmw.com/e36/electrical/e36_daytime_running_lights.html).

I have a '93 with the same situation but I don't think it the always on that kills the bulbs.

Did you touch them with your fingers when you installed them?

When I replaced my bulb I accidentally touched the glass part. The thing died in 6 months.
I took the precaution of cleaning the replacement with alcohol and it has been in for a year and a half.
