quick question clarification.

I understand the 318 / 320's have a single pipe, single tip from the engine back.

the 325's I'm not so sure... are they single pipe with a dual tip on the muffler?

I also understand that 328 / M3 has dual pipe, dual tip.

Please clarify... I'm half done a new exhaust, and now I'm wondering if I'd have to re-do it again if I end up putting the 325 engine in.

HEy Justin,

I can only comment on the 328/M3 exhaust. Yes, you're right. 2 pipes all the way back and 2 tips after the muffler. Remember though, the 328's have this odd 'butterfly' valve that actuates only at high or full throttle. You can see it from the passenger side tip I believe.

Hope this helps.

The 325i has the same setup as the 328/M3. Dual pipe up to the cats and beyond. The exhausts for the 325i/328/M3 are all interchangeable.

Someone else can verify this but I am 100% certain.

on my 93 318is I have 2 header pipes come into a Y pipe
then it's single pipe all the way back to the single tip exhaust.

bmd... really! I'd have to check that... you could be right.. could be a Y under there, maybe I can run 2 pipes now... my engine would be hideous without backpressure till I drop the 325 in there though.

thanks!
