View Full Version : e34 '95 525ia Trans service

My car runs great, and shifts smoothly. But I believe in maintanence.

What fluid would you use to flush the trans? Should I go with the regular stuff it calls for, or like Texaco Syn, or Royal Purple?

It is a daily driver, no tracking. I do drive it like a BMW though. I have driven 120 mph for long trips (in the middle of the night that is). Not quite like the autobahn but 30 miles at 120 should make it feel at home

Cost is not a problem, but if it will not benifit from a $300 service then why do it?

Tell me what you think.

The sticker is on the pan at the bottom of the transmission, you need to know what type of fluid you need to put it 1st.

Synthetic is always best, but it will cost you around 10 Cdn / liter if it is ATF...
It gets expensive fast.

Don't forget to keep filling the transmission when the car is running. Last mechanic who didn't do that had to pay a new transmission for his customer's 540i...
