View Full Version : Picked up a New Ride

So I decided to make the jump to an E39 and sell the E34. This decision, as I have read, has been greatly debated on all forums, but I feel that this E39 was the right way to go.

Looking very good! Congrats and welcome to the club lol
Any particulars? Km's?
I assume it's an auto b/c of the chrome trim.

Yeah, its a 1997 540iA with premium package. It is arctic silver on black with 111,000 Kms. Nice and clean car. OK service records and will need some new headlights?? :D

Jullians gotta crossover to the darkside!
Openwheel, congrats man, you've made the right decision, although that E34 you had was without a doubt sexy, the E39 is ALWAYS the better choice (sorry jullian)
You won't regret your choice. Looks very clean for a 97.

Um yea, Soldo, my name has ONE "L" ok? ok? I think I'll stick with my E34. Cuz I'll be original, since no one will have any E34's :D

Congrats on the purchase. If your headlights are foggy / pitted, you can fix them if you don't wanna shell out the $ for new ones yet:
Remove them from the car: that's easy, four bolts. Mark where the bolts were so you can line them back up when you reinstall. Then remove the lower trim piece so you don't damage it. Be careful not to snap it. If you can't get it off, just put 2 or 3 strips of masking tape over and ur 100% ok.
Now, get 1600 grit sand paper, turtle wax rubbing compound and MeGuire's Plastic Polish (all available at Canadian Tire). Turn on your hose, running water over the headlight's lens and start sanding with the paper keeping the paper and lens good and wet. Sand until you remove all the little bumps. With it wet, it will look good, and you shouldn't feel ANY bumps or pits. Dry it off. It will be white and hazy. Now, use a little rubbing compound. Gently go over the lens once as if you were waxing it. Next, use the plastic polish. Use it until the lens' are crystal clear.
Total time: 1 hour. Satisfaction on your new e39, priceless. :)
I did the same to my headlights and it worked great.

Sorry Julian, I did not mean to leave you hanging, but as I could not compete with your ride, so I thought I would take on a different class. And sorry but I put the ambers back on the car when I sold it, but I do have the crystal clears at my house and I will be posting them for sale.

LOL. you have anything else for sale? you got some heavy competition in the E39 category. Derrick and Rush have some sweet cars.
Nice title there. *th-up*
BTW I heard u were at the steeles dealership for a few days, my friend's working there, his name is Henny Tran, he said he used to work with you down at silver arrow for a lil while. But he doesn't think you remember him.

Yeah, I know about the competition, but hey, that is what makes it fun.
And yes I am working at Steeles now. Henny you say, I will swing back and say hello. He's a tech right?
05-14-2005, 09:39 PM
no, he's doing data entry for something. Not sure he works Tues and Thurs.
So you're perminant at steeles now? That's a lot closer to my house, maybe I'll swing by n say hi.
Very nice car Jason. From what I see, it would be hard not to chop that clean 540 with only 100k.
