This is for E46 m3, do you think it will last like 3-5 years?

I agree with Sickfinga. Seems like poor timing as well, seeing as the how the e90 M3 will be out soon with the v8 which might be more desirable for people who own an e46 M3. For the amount of money spent to supercharge their current car many of them could probably be close to getting the e90 with their trade in. Just a thought.

e90 M3 won't be out for another 2 years at least.

It is the right way of doing an SC install on the e46 M3 by lowering the compression ratio.

What they do is actually swap your engine for a rebuilt one and give you a core credit depending on the milage on yours.

Fair enough. And I suppose, the people who are into FI might not be the same people who care about having a v8. Different strokes for different folks? Plus 600hp is hard to argue with *wiggle*

No, I don't think so... you're paying also for the research and development as well as their bottom line (profit). Also, a lot of the parts are custom e.g. the intake manifold, heat exhange. The rest is not that expensive and I don't think you're getting the titanium rods with this kit.

JazzM - Do you think a kit like this would interest you at some point now that you have an s54?

For what you get, I don't think it's a bad deal at all. All you need is a BBK, and wider wheels and you're set, 600hp.

personally, I had SC before and to tell you the truth I prefer naturally aspirated power. Just the speed at which the engine revvs makes a world of a difference. Keep in mind that with such an SC you have a lowered redline. In my car my redline is now a 8900 (MarkD programming) which is amazing with the 4.10:1 LSD.

Also, with the SC you'll be rebuilding the engine every 2-3 years. I personally don't want to do that and have matured through experiance. The reliability of a naturally aspirated car is not comparable to FI - less stress on all the components involved. Eventually something will give.

Right now the car is so relaible that its my daily driver. I've had it out to two autocross sessions, the first was a bit of a disaster as the car kept stalling due to a bad MAF sensor and nonetheless I managed to get 1:02 clean. This time around I did 58.27 (+ 1 cone).

On a straight line, I'm spinning the wheels in 4th gear at 140 km/hr. Thats plenty of power there.

Conclusion: need wider tires :P

I also like the new AA e46 SC manifold design better...
