i think you HAVE to get it at the dealership... got mine recently for about $70.. that was for the best key. they also had the valet key and the wallet key which are cheaper.

WRONG!!!!!!!

The dealer is a total rip off, when i inquired the cheapest was $70 something, but the ones with the little flashlight in them cost even more.

Theres a KEY STORE in the pacific mall that can cut BMW keys, but i BELIEVE its only on sundays that the LUXURY key guy comes. Might wanna double check with that. And they only charge something in the vicinity of $30-40 can!

Hope that helps

Can someone please verify whether keys can be cut for our cars at Pacific Mall? Which models? E30, E36's, E46's etc.. I know for a fact that my keys have an imbedded chip that I'm assuming cannot be duplicated outside of going to a BMW dealership. There was a post here a while ago regarding this. E36's made post 1996 I think (don't quote me) have this chip. I doubt the guy from Pacific can get around this.

Still. It would benefit many people for more info on this.

Who's the contact, what store, name, model etc....

I'm almost positive theres only ONE place in pacific mall that copies keys!
Anyways, they do it for E36 models i know for SURE, and i guess they can do it for E46, might take longer..... as for the chip, i have no idea about any of that, i was unaware that the E36's came with chips since they had the same key design before 96. The E46's have a different design alltogether!

I have had an e30 key cut by a place in streetsville (Queenstown I belive) and a private locksmith. The locksmith did a better job.
