That's pretty damn slow. Doesn't a 540i go 0-60 in 6 seconds too?

I've known 2 people that (sorry 3 including my bro) that've
dumped their BM's due to Loss of rear wheel traction....

I'm sure the car can easily be altered to lay down 0-60 in 3,4 secs
but the average owner isn't ready for that...

in my bro's defence he's a sick driver!
his rear end got air off a bump in a turn at 80kph..
he managed to land it's ass end in the only spot of sand in the ditch..
every where around him where Tree stumps.. *sad*

I believe BMW never made their engines turbocharged...
that's why i appreciate the cars so much is that they compete and beat "tweaked", not naturally aspired engines and still manage to be the best.
the BMW engines are works of art.

 A little confused here, what does the owner not being ready for a car have to do with official car specs?

Porsches lay down a nice 4secs and i'm SURE the owners are more than ready for that. And no offence but if your bro was such a sick driver, he should be smart enough to slow down on a turn and NOT GET AIR!
*wiggle*

All i'm saying is that i've gotten used to the nice NA BMW engines (they DID do turbos back when, and still make Turbo diesels in europe). But why would someone buy this car with the same engine as the M but with less power?! I'm sure it CAN be tuned to push moer ponies, but the auto market rarely designs high priced luxury cars with the aftermarket world in mind!

And BMW is really startin to pisss me off with their names, the 335i is a 3.0L?!
*mumble*
C'mon!

nope, wrong.

The BMW 2002 Turbo

The 2002 Turbo was introduced at the 1973 Frankfurt Auto Show. Production stopped in July 1975. Between July 1973 and July 1975, only 1,672 models were built. None were certified for sale in the USA.

The BMW 2002 Turbo

it's quite funny because BMW was also the first car manufacture to put turbocharger into a production car. *th-up*

look sodomite, err sorry SOLDOMATIC..
you werent there, you've never seen the road.
and slowing for bumps in quebec is a double negative!
if you did that you'd be incapable of driving ever!
cause the roads around here are nothing but bumps!
:P

I am by far no porsche expert but isn't it apple & oranges a bit..?
don't porches make less cars then Bm every year..?
don't they cost abit more.....?

alot of these suppossed sporty Bm's havn't even had lsd since 96 E36's..
unless they have an M or upgraded sport package..

as to being confused about them not being ready i'll try this one:

it's like dummies in their SUV's in the 1st blizzard, you see em wrecked alot.
They think yeah AWD I'm indestructable! till they need to stop or turn on there All season tires..

that type of "not ready for it"

or like alot of other factory Turbo cars.. 1.8T vw for example..
low boosted from the factory
add a chip & gain 50hp...

Hmm i'm sure theres a reason why the factory didn't set it like that
I'm sure theres a reason for warranties being voided from the chip.

oh yeah -reliability, less boost equals less warranty work..!
probably being cheap they're using some small turbo's found
on other cars!
Plus its 1 turbo for low end 1 turbo for high end..not 2 phat turbo's
pumping at once..

still lost? :huh?:

It would be nice if they start doing turbo versions of the 5, 6 and 7 series as well... e.g. 635ci :D

 wow the way you say that you make it sound like
every e30 had Lsd

but they don't!
granted you had a good chance of getting them on a E30 325i
better then after 96 when Bmw got cheap started giving open diffs standard.
unless you so optioned to have one like in a "sports package"
so a baseline 96+ 325/328 etc will have an open diff!

having had a open diff on a E30 85 318i 4door I owned I can tell
you it didn't feel to "sporty" getting stuck in 3cm of light snow
next to a curb with my open diff on Flat pavement~!

finally a nice guy came along and gave me a push..
I got out & said thanks man i'd be here all day..
his reply (no bs here/ he musta been jealous)
your welcome, buy a real beemer!

read the article.
the AutoCar article is all about 3 liter twin turbocharged petrol engine that's coming out shortly, and BMW already have 2 version of the turbo 6 diesel engine in Europe.
