I got my suspention put in today, H&R Coilovers and Biltein Shocks and I'm happy with the back end but I think the front needs more of a drop. I'm going back to the shop tommorow for a general tune up and they said they could cut the spings so it dropped more in the front...What do you guys think...does it look like it needs to be lower in the front?

Why all of the pictures you take have some sort of noise or grainy? What type of camera do you use and what is your settings?

Just curious.

nice drop in the back, but wait until the springs settle before you cut it

My camera is the Panasonic DMC-LC50, I took the pics quik tho and I'm positice they're that grainy cause I used the wrong setting.

Even if I wait for the front to setle it won't be that much of a difference will it? Even if it goes down half an inch or so it'll still be higher than the rear...

Thanks, I'm gonna just change the muffler, I bent it today backing into a parking spot becase the drop was so low and I didn't expect the can to hit the concrete stopper but it did

are you sure the fronts were installed?

Ya, the front diff needs more of a drop, fenders are too uneven, a little higher in the rear to level out the fenders is what i'd do.

BTW I posted it as COILOVERS and they're H&R Racing Springs with Bilstein shocks, I don't know why I said coilovers....sorry, are they even adjustable without cutting then?

why would u buy a high end car like a BMW and then cut springs?

the springs are made to be a certain length, the suspension geometry would get ****ed up aka ur car will handle like shit. U will also get more bump steer.

Good day

i think the ACS front lip and rear would look hot on your car...with a better drop too

You should be ok if you cut solely the dead coils(although I wouldn't). Personally, I think the car looks tight...it's not a track car, and the ride will only become worse with a bigger drop.

i say, drop the front a bit more. the ride might not be as smooth, but it will be smooth enough.

whatever you do...DO NOT CUT THE SPRINGS, especially not until it's settled. H&R's are known to settle a lot. If anything I would just add a little to the back to even it out more, like putting some spring pads back there. I'm surprised a shop would even suggest cutting the springs.

Also, Not sure about the springs you have, but if you do decide to cut them, make sure they are not a progressive rate, otherwise cutting them will completely mess up the ride of the car.

All that said...I do agree the front looks a little high, and something should be done, but cutting the springs is just bad news.

my $0.02 :)

You can take out the front spring pads, that will give you another 1/2" drop

I'm not cutting the springs, the car is at the shop now and we'll see what happens. He said they were installed corectly but he'll check into it and I'm waiting for the call back right now to see what he says

I got the springs cut and it's awsome. I know everybody said not to but the dude that did work on my car works on BMW Race cars, he said that the spring I have have a comfort zone on the bottom and can be cut so he cut out a bit. It looks and feels really good...I'll post pics soon

looks much better *th-up*

Just hope it didn't mess up the handling, cuz now if you think about it, the back has that "comfort zone" (ie. progressive rate) and it will now tend to roll more than the front, which will probably put it in a bad off camber situation, and throw off the balance of the car. Just my thoughts anyway.

Good point, to be honest I don't know much about what it'll do to the camber. I'm gonna get the camber done where the springs settle and ask when I do...So far so good tho, it handles amazing right now
