I have finally taken my car in to get repaired due to incident on the QEW 540I vs Drivesatf.
This is my new courtesy car. Subaru Impreza GT with less then 3000Km on the clock. Fully loaded with I think Steptronic transmission, which I think is very slow to respond to driver input. Does anyone know what the difference in power plant between the Impreza and WRX?

that's an odd courtesy car...from a BMW dealer. I had a 2000 323i (brand new at the time) as my courtesy loaner from Towne & Country. I was pimpin' back then as the e46 platform had just come out...but I was happy to have my e30 back.

Back to your question, the WRX has 300 ponies, while the Imprezza, i'm not sure...maybe 225? maybe too much?

That's actually a Subaru Leagcy GT, and they have a similar 2.5 I4 turbo as the Impreza WRX STI but with 250hp instead of 300hp.

but GM and subaru... *angel*

GM bought 20% of Subaru to get their technology.

The first car that is similar is the Saab 9-2X. It has much in common with the Subaru Impreza WRX.

Shows how much I know about Subaru. Thanks.

Nice car, but it's not that fast. According to my wife that is. *angel*

The WRX has 227hp. The STi has 300.

Man our knowledge base just bites.

Similar engine to the STi (completely different from WRX), the Legacy doesn't have as much boost. 250hp versus 300hp.

You also said it has an I4. It has an H4 motor (not the bulb) which stands for "boxer" or flat four.

Hey not a bad loner. I have my car in there too. Look for the Imola M Roadster. They gave me a Volvo S60 T2.5. Not a bad car, lots of lag but picks up after that. 2 more weeks to go *thmbsdwn* I just ordered my Z8 chrome windsheild washer nozzles and curved M3 badge from LeatherZ to put on when it is done. 2 more weeks, 27 degrees, crap. *mumble*

I asked John where your car was, he showed it to me. I explained we both hang around on this site, maybe they would like to advertise on the site.

lol @ impreza GT :P

STi is a badass car.. 0-100 in 4.8 1/4 mile in 13.2 ... totally different ballgame then the Legacy.. thats a family ride

The WRX has 227 hp , w/COBB STG 2 tuning (Exhaust, Accessport ECU tuning) yuo get around 285 hp. and similiar STi performance for all but $1200 USD NEW !!! can't beat that bang for the buck !

You might even have a regular model Legacy, which comes with the 2.5 N/A H4, 165 Horsepower. A hefty curb weight coupled with a slushbox doesn't make for a fast car ;) Hoodscoops on the newest model legacy indicates that it's got the 2.5 turbocharged engine with 250 Horsepower, similar to a Forester XT engine.. basically a de-tuned STi engine.

BTW the H in H4 stands for horizontally opposed.
