Around April or May of next year...im going to be getting my own car (my money)... and i have a question...

It will either be the 325i/is, or 328i/is..

Of course it will be manual, and im leaniant between three colors (black, white or red.) what color would you get?

but the main choices yet that i can't decide to make are ...
Coupe or Sedan? (what would you prefer?) and please state why.

and also, 325 or 328? By this time next year the priecs should be decent, and ill be able to get them for around 10-14K.
for those that have driven both the 325 and 328... is there a big difference?
Was the 328 an all around more fun car to drive?

For 325:
Kerb weight 1370 kg 3020 lb
HP 189
Torque 181lbft

For 328:
Kerb weight 1415 kg 3120 lb
HP 190
Torque 207lbft

Why is it too early? I just want to plan ahead, and get suggestions from people now.

search button noob :D

i'd go 328 simply because it is newer, and it'll be easier to find one in better condition. And go coupe imo, but even if u get a sedan it will look just as pimp...i just prefer 2dr since it gives off a more sporty vibe. *th-up*

btw get white or get black... *th-up*

i would go 2dr cause i don't plan on haveing a fully loaded car or to be carrying things around. the car would be taking me and maybe 1 or rarely 2 other people.
325 motor has more options to customize it and its not that bad performance wise. i haven't driven either of them but i would go 325is and since i rather have a coloured car it'd go red.
white does seem nice though but it gets dirty easly. and black kinda gets hot in the sun but it also doesn't reveal any dings.
and no i don't think it's too early to decide. start researching first then buy. find out has much as you can before buying so you know what to look for and what can go wrong.

coupe - black - 18" - 328
sedan - black - 19" - 325 (no need for more power with 4-dr its just to pimp)

Just to clarify, are we talking e36 or e46 here?

^^For that price ,I guess E36.....

I would go with late 328is black....To me white cars look older....Even red is better...

I've always had a secret want for a coupe. Grass is always greener on the either side. :)

But then there are times when I need to move/transport stuff, or a bunch of friends will want to go somewhere and the 4dr is irreplaceable.

Don't know how much a 2dr vs 4dr makes an insurance difference either. Might be something worth looking into.

As for color, since you're not partial, look for a car with no rust. AT ALL. It's a headache. :( If you manage to find 3 immaculate cars all in your choices of color, I prefer black. I find the bright colors attract too much unwanted attention. Plus, black is pimp when it's clean/waxed. :D

thanks app, im pretty sure the most things insurance looks for on a car would have to be
1. the year
2. 2dr and 4dr.
3. the price tag.

I didn't read the other people's replies so sorry if it has been mentioned, but the there is alot more hp to be had with the 328i by way of a bigger throttle body

grab a 94 325is, best e36 ever :D

seriously though, love my 325, driven both the M3 and the 328.....M3 makes me cry cuz it's that much of a difference, the 328 not so much...and if you have to coose between sedan or coupe, grab the coupe *th-up*

Engine size too. I've gotten $1000 price differences between 318 and 325 quotes, E36 chassis.

Never tried. Call an agent and ask, or use one of the online quote systems.

Torque is torque. 328 all the way...with a few simple additions, it's certainly on par with an M3.

The 2 door is a great car, but for some reason they dont handle as well as the 4 door, i know a few racers who have the 2dr and the 4dr and the 4dr runs faster times (same setup and power)

If I had 14K to spend on a car, it won't be an e36, a Bimmer yes, but not an e36...
