how much does this affect your gas mileage and is it worth doing this on a 318is?

if anything you get better gas milage (power increased by changing timing - engine runs more efficiently).

BUT, it appears that one has to use 94 octane gas which may not be readily available in your area.
I know it is NOT in mine!
Not sure how well the software adjusts to lower octane Super.
I was all for it, 'till I saw the 94 octane gas requirement for the E36 M3's.
Now, I'm not sure...don't want to cause engine damage or keep fouling the plugs or whatever...
If the software adjusts itself to the lower octane automatically, then what's the point of using it - where is the advantage???????
Except for the deletion of the speed governer, which can already get me into a whole lot of problems with the cops.

removal of the governor is done by pretty much any tunner.

most likely they will also raise your RPM limit

the higher octane gasoline requiremements goes back to my timing argument since the timing can be advanced more without risk of detonation if-f the gas has a higher octane count which in turn will produce more power.

You can get tunned software for 91,92,93,94.....110,etc.
