thanks guys!! i am SO happy with it...it's a huge step up from anything i've owned before lol.

Rodo i got it at Colombo Chrysler in Woodbridge...paid 17250$ after tax, fees and all the other BS...although if i finance it out the full 3 years, another 4K will add to that price in interest. I wont be doing that though, so i think I got a good enough deal...the KMs are at 138 right now, but the car has really been babied...so it seems like the kms arent a huge deal. Although i suppose on these cars 138k is like nothing haha...

oh...as for plans...nothing major, some cosmetic stuff like clear corners, angel eyes, and likely a set of rims in the summer...i also really want a short throw shifter, and maybe even a CAI. i love the car as it is, i dont really want to do too much to it. :)

Nice work!

Pretty decent price too. I think I paid $18,900 plus taxes for my '99 e46 323i about 1 year ago in May (My friend owns the dealership). $5K difference, but you got a higher model and a 2 door sport! Had to get 4 doors - the wife wants to have a family soon... *wiggle*

Have fun!

Silver, well done!!! Congradulations! I remember when I got my first bimmer, I would go down in the middle of the night to sit on the first floor crapper so I could look at the car out the window, drive it every excuse I had, I wouldn't let my parents drive anywhere. You guys need groceries??? HURRAY FOR GROCERIES!!! Welcome to the infatuation with the Roundel!

And don't worry in a month or two you're going to be dying to start modding the crap out of it, to drop it and get some nice rims on there. :) We've all been there.

Hey guys...the car is 5spd! And no interior pics...it's stock anyway except for the deck.

MAC for sure, we'll go for a spin at one of the meets! :)

I have to drive it today, snow or not...this will be my first time in snow in a RWD car...any suggestions? How will it handle??

Do not punch the gas when you turn unless you like you like to spin out

RWD is easier to control in bad situations than FWD imho..

If you turn the wheel on a FWD car when you are turning.. you will just keep slidin forward.. on rwd.. give it a bit of gas and your back end will kick out and you'll make the turn..

Looks great. Love the Silver colour. Congrats.

The KEY to safe turning in enclement weather (snow, rain) with a RWD, is to BRAKE BEFORE GOING INTO THE TURN...DO NOT BRAKE AS YOU'RE TURNING AND ONLY PUNCH THE GAS ONCE YOUR CAR IS ALMOST STRAIGHT AFTER THE TURN. To fish-tail, punch the gas a little earlier out of the turn...too early and you'll spin-out...too late and you're left in the dust.

I suggest going to an empty parking lot with snow or rain and prcatice spinning out, controlling your spin, braking straight, braking in/out of a turn, sharp turns etc...the more you try doing the things you don't want to happen (in a controlled environment) the better prepared you'll be when push comes to shove.

Also, practice quick downshifts to assist your brakes when coming to a quick stop...in heavy snow, use your gears more than your brakes...learn the rev limits in each gear so you don't over-rev your motor when downshifting quickly.

Good luck and trust me, you'll have a blast! *th-up*

Yah he's right.. goto a parking lot and drift your car side to side.. you'll see what it slips and when it grabs..

If you turn the wheel on a FWD car when you are turning.. you will just keep slidin forward.. on rwd.. give it a bit of gas and your back end will kick out and you'll make the turn..

Only if you're comfortable with RWD...the whole reason for FWD is that with the weight of the motor over the transmission and the drive wheels, handling is supposed to be better/more easily controllable, thus making it safer for the common driver. If you're front wheels are bald, then chances are you'll be going straight after an aggressive turn, if your tires are good, this should not be an issue.

My thoughts come from tonnes of experience driving both RWD and FWD cars regularly. *th-up*

Well the design is timeless BBS but they're too small, too much tire sidewall. Like I said, trust me, give it a few months and you'll be shopping around everywhere for 17-18's. Maybe sooner if you get quickly exposed to some of the fine examples at a meet.

You car is very clean and already has a great look to it, if you just dropped it and put big rims on it would be absolute hotness! But in time. :)

Here's an example, my previous bimmer, with stock suspension and rims, lowered. and lowered with 18's:

oh definitely, i will get different wheels in time, but i will always keep these. i love the look of R1 Racing GTR-4, absolutely gorgeous black mesh wheels with a polished lip...but they are for FWD cars. i'm not yet fully familiar with BBS line or many other RWD wheels. My goal right now is to pay the car off within the next 8 months or so, so that i'm not stuck paying interest charges on financing...and then i will start modifying it a bit more.

i love your rims, BigD...i love the split 5 star look. another wheel i love is Konig Holes, but they dont make those for BMW... :(

HEHE! We all had thoughts like that, but in time the upgrade bug will put a death grip on your butt and you defenses will fall. Yeah the M Parallel rim is one of the best looking rims on earth. Only problem is you can only fit replicas on an E36 and PLEASE do not go that route. All you're going to get is frustration and disappointment (they'll bend, the paint will chip etc).

Don't worry about not knowing different rims, even the most experienced of us don't know every single rim out there, and for all you know that one rim you don't know is the hotness. The best thing to do is to go through magazines and websites, come to meets, and see what other people are wearing to give you ideas. You don't need to get the same style but you'll get an idea for how different types of design cues look good on your car (sometimes a rim that looks sexy sitting in the store or online but they won't actually look all that great on your particular car).

These are the rims going on the M5 next:

The rims are from DPE, some prices here (don't go by the finish, each DPE rim is one-off so you can have them do anything you like):

Hi 97M3/4:
I love the car in your signature. I just looked at a new M3 in the show room. You probably got yours at B-K Motors.

Is the car as much fun as they say? The service people told me to look at the M3.

I think, I have to look at the new 3 Series, but there will be no coupe or M3 for a while.

Do you think it is a mistake to buy one of the last M3's?
