I heard on the news it was supposed to stay the same for a while. In Ottawa I paid 82.5 for regular today and its making me broke.

Here guys, use this to help you keep your gass spending down...

http://www.torontogasprices.com

They also have one for pretty much every large city in the US and Canada. just sub toronto for your city name.

Just be happy we aren't paying Vancouver's prices! My wife's from there, so we make trips back regularly and WHOLLY CRAP! it's nuts out there...

I had to do some math to convert this to US standards but here goes. I think you guys pay per liter for gas and we pay by the gallon. There are 3.78 liters in 1 gallon so you are basically paying $3.78/gallon. Then when you convert that in to USD, $3.78 CAD is $3.12 (btw, your dollar is doing excellent!!). That is very high! Why is that? I thought OPEC hated Americans :)

Tennessee's gas prices are below the US average. I've seen $2.10 for 89 octane. Georgia's prices are usually $.10 cheaper.

Your calcs are a little off... In Toronto we are paying around $0.85/litre (at least in the west end) That's $3.21 CDN. That's $2.67 USD @ 1.2 exchange. Higher than US? Yes - always has been. Reason? Beats me... Higher demand due to higher population so better prices? Possibly. That's nothing compared to the UK where they are paying .85 Pence, which is $2 CDN per litre, or $6.30 USD per gallon.

I work at shell part time and we just got a memo.... Our whole system is changing from a 3 digit system ex. 83.3 for regular to a four system ex. 083.3 so the only reason that would justify this change is that reg is gonna be over a buck per litre soon enuff

Before January, Vancouver's prices rose and fell from 83 to 96 cents a litre.
Now, its holding steady at 93-96 cents a litre.
This summer ('04) was completely insane $1.09 was the highest i paid for 91 octane. Geez. *drink*
i drop $52 on a full tank.
DIESEL is 99.9 cents here!!! what in the??

1. Drive your car to the pump, proceed to pump the gas into your tank, drive away.
2. Bring an extra gas tank (available at gas station :D), and fill that up as well.

I drove a friend's car from a club in Hamilton years ago and we ran out of gas at the toll area of the border. I was pissed. That was the 1st and last time I bought gas up there.

there is secret marketing toy I learn from cousin(media consultant)..create uncertainity into the public and they will except any alternative. So bascially gas companies are indicating $1.20-1.40 a a litre for the upcoming season then caps it at $1.00..then praises itself for keeping the prices low for the consumer while their profits grow about $125 US million a DAY for each cent of litre increases while they DECREASES production to boost up oil prices....

The gas industry is very very ****d, too bad we dont have more options on diesel cars...my sister in euro got her self a 2001 A4 2.5TDI....very very nice and quick car...and SOO cheap on gas..the only options we have here are the VW diesels..

Currently we can't get any of the really good diesel engines that they have in Europe because our gas has sulphur in it. Supposedly we will be receiving sulphur free gas in the future, though i'm not sure when. Along with this, we'll also likely get all the really nice diesels they have over there.

^^^^same here....but i'll be putting 89 or 90.
but i don't understand why they have to raise the price? they say their making no profit and most of it is going to taxes. but why does the gas price jump every hour or so????
i've seen the price have from 80 to 85 within a hour and the hour after that it dropped to 84. how can gas fluctuate that much within a couple of hours??

Weird, I haven't noticed the pumps having more than 3 digits. I know the big display stands still only have 3.

And I think this is all crap. It's not going to go up anymore than it has. This shit has been going on the last few years and every time it goes back down. Remember they said that it was gonna be a buck a year ago Christmas? Then the summer? Yeah ok. The reason it's not gonna happen is that the price is artificial. It's not in direct correlation to the market price of oil. The price goes up on the stock market and the pump price goes up the next day. Oh yeah ok you managed to ship the shit over overnight, make gas and sell it now huh. Yeah right.

Hey 6speedMaxSE,

Ya I figured out today that the difference between East Toronto/Scarborough region and Mississauga is huge right now. I just passed a station at 84.9 in Mississauga.

Nope - I'm like 1.5 hours from the border. It would be silly for me to go across the border... :D

lol 1 litre of cas is about dollar twenty cents in finland and its 95 octane!!
so you get under 10 litres with 10 euros...:)

1 US gallon = 3.7854118 liters

1 fin litre = 1,086 euros 95 octane

1 us gallon = 4,082 euros

20 gallon = 81.64 euros

basically waht you are saying is that if you were paying in Canadian dollars you would be paying about 2$ for a litre of gas, after the conversion from euros.

I'm still not going to complain, once it surpasses what the cost is in europe, then I'll cry. The sad part is my beater is worse on fuel then my 328. At least I can put 87 in my beater, my 328 is 93 or better.

Then again I like to bike a lot too, so make I'll do what I used to do a just bike to school every now and then.
