hey all i'm new here. i drive now a 1999 Toyota Tercel and am looking at a green 1997 328I premium package, sports package, 4 dr, 126, 609 kms,
do you all think that $17,900 is fair for the car or what?

let me know. cuz i think i'm in love with teh car, but dont want to overpay for it.

i think it will be a year round car. and i will be trading in the tercel. If i can get the car for like $12000- 11000 after the trade in i will for sure get it.

i agree for that many kms its a little pricey, but i guess i'll check out toronto places. and private sales. i love the colours of that car though.

if anyone sees a nice 1996-1998 328i, let me know for a decent price.

Ok.
thats what the BMW experience centre (apparently BMW's Canada headquarters) dealership is asking for it.

Step #1 when used car shopping: don't let yourself fall in love with a particular car. I know it's hard, but you may seriously regret it! Love causes you to overlook all sorts of important things (and I'm not just talking about cars...).

Have you browsed around on Trader and such?

You do realize you can get a E46 for 16+GS.. I saw a nice 2000 323CI for 18Gs with 150,000KMs.... thats 3 years newer.. newer bodystyle.. around the same mileage..

If your going to spend more then 18gs on an E36...first of all NO OFFENSE, but youd have to be retarded.. 2nd of all, make sure its an M3.. otherwise FOOK IT! get a E46....!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, dont forget the new 3-series is comming out soon.. E36 is gonna be a dinosaur when it comes to resale value.. bend over!

BTW.. i souldnt spend more then 11-12GS for that car.. its 8 years old!!!

i agree completely with eriK!....definately don't spend then 11/12gs BEFORE ur trade in for an e36. If you can i would wait for the entire 3 series to take another depreciation hit...and then make ur decision...u might be able to get an early yeared e46 by then *th-up*

i agree that i could wait and get a newer one, but i do like the body lines of the E36, and i was just informed by my parents and others that its a good 6 months of working until i can get approved for financing on a new car, so looks like its save up and dream/plan untill october to get it, which will increase what i can get, so i will be looking at a different price range then possibly. but if you guys have any connections or know of any good dealers to get either a 97/98 E 36 or a 99-02 E46 let me know, so i can start looking now.

i just bought a 1998 328is, and paid 14500 plus taxes, came to about 16500$. the car was absolutely babied though, you can tell..mint. 130kms, but all service at maranello's bmw.

i looked at some 1997s as well but they were in the 10-14 price range...that seems more reasonable to me for a pre 1999. i wouldnt have paid more than 15 for mine...it's most likely the same price bracket fit as yours...

i'd keep looking around. what kind of dealers are you looking in? like, little shady dealers (i looked in some of those, just for the hell of it) or big dealerships? i bought mine at colombo chrysler in woodbridge...

good luck with your decision, and keep us posted!

and it is comming from the used bmw dealership that is in the same location as BMW's canada's company headquarters in Whitby. why they chose whitby for this i still do not know

but it appears that the car was babied.
here are pics of it i really like the lines of the E36 so i think i'm looking for one of those.

OK...i guess i can see why it's "overpriced"....M steering wheel for one...looks like u got an EXCELLENT looking interior, paint is in immaculate condition, basically if the dealership has such a car parked inside beside all the new models...theres a reason...car is probably prepped by the dealer big time...wax, tire dressing, interior polishing the whole deal....i would definately pick up that beauty for 14.5 at most!...i love how clean it is...especially since its from dealer..

03-13-2005, 10:35 PM
yeah if i can bargain them down from 17900 to 15 or so its mine..
i think the spoiler's aftermarket, its got the M wheel, and ebrake handle, chrome around the shift boot, and the Harmon kardon sound system, which will accent my sub(s) perfectly.

there are some issues liek right fog light is a little cracked and new driverside mat in car but i'm sure for $15 000 or so bmw will replace it and let the car go.. cuz as the lady at teh dealership talked about it she wanted that car gone.
so we'll see what i can do once i finish school here in Nova Scotia and start my electrical apprenticeship.

droppin outta uni, starting and apprenticeship then gettin the bimmer of my dreams damn life seems good for me.

too bad i like this car too much cuz i'm almost willing to pay 17900 for it

i think it has the premium, sport and inclement weather packages all on it too
its one of those manual fully loaded cars

03-13-2005, 11:57 PM
ok i see why you love it. it looks really clean and well taken care of.

but try bargaining down, it never hurts. you might also say you are shopping around and found teh identical car at so-and-so dealer for 14500, for ex. and say you want them to beat the price.

thats what i did, and it worked lol.

Hey same sorta deal for mine..

Mines a 94 325IS and i bought it for 13...some ppl thought it was a little pricy but the interior is super nice...the paints not pro but its nice enough

i say if you can get that for 15 go for it for sure!

Markup at the stealer is really high.. you just gotta catch em in the right mood and they will drop their pants for you. tell them you'll give them 15-16 grand for it and leave your number to call when they wanna sell the car. it's prolly a trade in, so if they don't sell it they will auction it off for pennies.

LOL.. 15gs for that car... man oh man do people ever learn..

Krazykanuk
03-14-2005, 11:34 AM
yeah i think after i get it the only mods it will be getting is the amp and subs from my old car installed right away and a nice tint job and the ugly black plastic getting painted to match the car.. but other than that for the first little bit till i have a bunch of the car paid off and surplus money to throw in a supergharger, intake and exhaust.

Krazykanuk
03-14-2005, 07:07 PM
yes can you please explain.

cuz i am thinking that $15 000 is a decent price for this car., if it isn't please let me know.

does anyone know the conditions of getting financing on a car from a bmw dealership?

does anyone know how long you have to be working somewhere if it is a requirement to get financing

lvan
03-14-2005, 08:10 PM
^^The most cars from bmw dealer are 2000+ plus and they are over 15 gs...Thats from what i have seen...Usually they want $5000 down and what ever it comes per month.

Krazykanuk
03-15-2005, 01:53 PM
since my trade in's been rated at worth around 5-6000 i think when i get back into ontario from stupid uni and have my job for sure i'll test drive the car and start the paperwork. and then you'll all get to see it.
fitst thing its getting is tints all around and a stereo install. and if i pay for it over 3 yrs, i'll have enough money to do all that and the next month get new wheels and rims

Here is a 96 328 in the for sale section... Look at the price difference,http://www.maxbimmer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50455

Yeah its got high KMS.. but then again yuo can get a fresh M3 motor even for 4 grand and pop her in there easily :)..

that car you are lookn at @ bmw isnt worth even 13grand......

my friend sees those cars go at auctions for 6-7 grand.. dealers buy'em, sellem for 11-13gs..

Especially buying @ a BMW dealership, thats the worst thing to do lol :)
