View Full Version : FINALLY - ordered my new exhaust system

FINALLY - I ordered my new exhaust system...Remus Cat-back with twin 76 mm tips. I originally wanted the twin 90 mm, but after measuring the cutout, it prolly won't even fit. So, I went with the 76 mm (3") tips...i'm sure they'll still look awesome. Man, this system is not easy to find (readily available). The quickest I could get it is in one week from Staten Island NY. Anyways, i've waited this long...what's another week right!

Once it's installed, I will post some pics. *th-up*

thx!

I ordered it from autoaccessorystore.com (located in Staten Island NY), and it cost $776 CAD. It is a cat-back system. After shipping, taxes, and installation (pretty simple I might try it myslef) it should cost me between $900-1 K...i'm still saving myself ~ $200 by doing it this way rather than ordering it from a shop...when the CAD is strong, that's when I order stuff on my own etc...faaaaaaaaaaack can't wait, I love the sound of Remus...faaaaaaaaaaaaack! *smoke*

my friend has a remus on his 325is. You will love it. It sounds awsome. The best sounding exhaust by far for a Bmw

Yes, that's what sold it for me. My friend had a similar exhaust on his e30 and NOTHING touches Remus for sound and performance...up to 15% hp gains (or so they say).

You can check out the Remus sound at http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/home.asp?dir=wizard&wizard=remus&cat=&sub_id=&product=338&s=&sec_id= and click the box that says "listen to Remus sound". CAUTION, you may be inclined to make a purchase after hearing it! *th-up*

My friend Burnhard22 has a Brullen, it sounds great too, it's just a little loud for my liking. However, it sounds even better now that he's got a turbo in his car.

I can't wait for the system. I WANT IT NOW...oh well, i've waited this long, what's another week. *th-up*

how much was shipping for the muffler?

ara325
03-24-2005, 09:07 PM
taxes and shipping total was $892 CAD ~ $85 US for shipping. You know what I just realized though, i think the tips are going to be on an angle, rather than coming straight out...faaaaaaaaaaaaack! nothing every goes smoothly. i was hoping to get them coming straight out of the muffler.

hopefully, they're pretty big too...i ordered 3" tips and got 3.5" tips. I have just over 7" clearance so it's gonna have to fit like a virgin.

yeah, mine's curently stock...i know, exhaust is usually the first to change, but honestly, i love the sound of my stock muffler. It has a small hole from the inside, so it's got the perfect, deep, throaty, yet relatively quiet tone. But, one of my tips finally gave and it's time for a new one, and better, system. The problem is that with 3.5"tips, the angled look MAY be overkilled by the size of the tips. So, i'm exploring some options, i.e. cut and reweld the tips straight...still looking into.

here's a couple of pics of how it looks now...p.s. these tips, or should i say tip, are/is 2.5" (i believe)...a little embarassing, actually.

it's not too too bad in an angle like that too. here's some pics of Oliver's old E30, those are dual 80mm.

ps: YES, his car looks fuken SICK ! can't wait to put my wheels back on, hehe ... btw, the lip is fuked now, all mud stains and shits :( it's taking me 4 hrs each rim to polished. *sad*

windsor318is
03-25-2005, 12:16 PM
hahahah leo get them chrome plated that way you dont have to polish anymore!! thats why i got chrom rims this time instead of polished, i hated doing that.!!

Ara looks titties, mines the same except mine are oval tips, i juuuuust have enough room for them to fit!! (still havent bu it on yet LOL

ara325
03-25-2005, 12:57 PM
qimis: those tips look really good b/c they're offset. you can draw a straight line across the top of them. Mine are angled-side-by-side and i don't think will look as good. I'm just gonna get it put on ad then make the changes...at least there's a fix, and the money i saved will well cover the costs of any adjustments. so, *th-up* , again.

windsor - the oval is nice too. my friend had an oval tipped Remus on his e30 (actually I spent a fair bit of time in that car, eventually selling me on a Remus system) and the oval tips are hot. any pics?

thanks, Speedy installed it but it looks simple enough. Sounds great, almost too quiet, you can tell the engines breathes alot better after revving it a couple of times, i'm just not feeling any hp gains. Altohugh, with a smoother delivery i'm prolly not feeling the torque like i used to.

i'm just not feeling any hp gains.

There are none. ;)

They muffler looks good, but to me the mounting needs to be tweaked a little. Sticks out just a bit too far and to the left in my opinion. Still looks a lot better than what you had before, obviously.

when i move back to TO in the next couple of months, i'm taking it to a shop for a cut and reweld the tips straight...i may even get 76mm tips instead (if possible).

although hp gains don't seem like much, i'm finding that my 3rd gear is alive again. it seems more responsive than before. 2nd gear feels like there are no more gains, and the system is super quiet. *th-up*

click on the box that says "Listen to Remus sound". it sompares a stock 3 series BMW to its equivalent Remus exhaust.

http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/home.asp?dir=wizard&wizard=remus&cat=&sub_id=&product=338&s=&sec_id=

the service rating at autoaccessorystore is poor btw...no desire to help me even tho they sent me the wrong muffler. *thmbsdwn*

Wow that is crappy customer service right there almost downright dumb.

no kiddin'. in times when price competitiveness is so prevalent, no retailer should afford to be "too proud/good to help even the smallest customer". I hope they frequent this site and read the bad word-of-mouth they're getting.

Changing the tips may slightly alter the sound.. because the remus tips have insolation in them. Just my opinion but the tips with the remus logo makes up a lot of what you paid for.

Absolutely, i'm not going to change the actual tips, just the direction they come out...unless I can get 2 Remus 76mm tips, then i'll change them, if not, i'm not paying all this money for no-name tips. :D

I think he's asking "isn't there anything else?". Well it's now April so Windsor318 should be hitting this site soon, maybe he can clarify for us when he comes back...
