Supposedly an "infiniti FX fighter", apparently it was a concept before bangle took over. But instead they built the X3.

The aggresive lines down the side are cool, hell ya i'd take that over an X3 anyday. Don't like the rims... car would look damn good with 1inch larger rims and 1.5'' lowerd all around.

Were they planning on doing some scissor doors or something on this? Look at the handles.

And the back end is horrible!

The roofline and window shape need some serious work, but I love the fenders! without seeing the front its hard to decide if its better than the x3. It sure does have more style than the x3 though.

I'd go with that over the X3 any day of the week. Looks like a 4 door M coupe

Do yourself a favour and drive an X3 and an FX back to back. People compare an FX to an X3 because of price but in terms of performance and size it is similar to the X5. I would never buy a vehicle soley on price but the FX did it all for me. It's not a BMW, and it doesn't pretend to be but it is very capable. Matter of fact, most magazines compare it to the Cayenne not the X5. I have 43,000km on mine now with nooo problems. I would caution you on buying any FX with an early build date. There were problems, like all manufacturers, that you want to stay away from. Also, if you can do without the V8, go with a 35 without the tech package. You will save 10k and have a better ride to boot. The 18 inch wheels don't look as nice but on such a short wheelbase they provide a vast improvement in ride.

I think the X3 is the most fugly "suv" on the market..X5 or bust in my humble opinion.

looks like a 1-series flowing back to the fx's rear shape (with the upside-down e46 tails hah)...not bad tho.

The X3 should not be compared to an FX, it's a totally different type of vehicle as far as I'm concerned. The FX should be compared to an X5.

Agreed.

The FX is available with a V8, and I believe its larger in size too.

Exactly.

The X3 is available in 2.5 or 3.0, where as FX is 3.5 or 4.5 V8.
How the hell can you compare a car with totally different sized engines, especially with one car with a huge difference in engine compartment size. When the FX45's engine can fit in the compartment of the X3 3.0, then compare them.

To play devils advocate, they are in the same price range, and they are a sporty SUV. Looking at the two though side by side, it's obvious that the FX is a much better deal than the X3.

Wondering how the ride compares with each other.

I can't help but come to the conclusion the X3 is priced too high.

Just recently, I was at Autohaus, I saw a nicely optioned 3.0 X3.
Was just below 60G's. About the same price as a 3.0L X5.
10G's away from what I paid for my nicely optioned 4.4 X5.
Noted to my salesman how BMW can justify pricing the X3 at about the same price as the X5. He noted that many customers go to the X5 once they realize there's very little price diff between the two.

Likely why the X5 outsold the X3 by 3:1 last year, even though last year was the X3's first year in production which is usually the best year for sales.

Those rims are the EXACT rims that BMW 760Li individual is optioned with

IMO, BMW didn't need to build the X3, I thought it would be small and RAV4 sized, but when I went to see it, it turned out to be just about X5 size anyways. They should have made an X7...like, Sequoia sized, powered by their V-12. Now that would murder every other SUV out there.

Does this world really need 6000 lbs. SUV's being able to do sub 5 sec 0-60's......

Price range? Ya, they are in the same one, but the X3 3.0i fully loaded is $64,240 before taxes...FX45 fully loaded is $70,689 before taxes.
So what would you rather have...a [BMW and save 6g] or a [Nissan]?
Also, if you haven't driven a 6spd X3 3.0i, you can't answer this question.

That's because the X3 is marketed towards a totally different market, and the X5 has a pretty good reputation, especially the newly re-designed one. So your comparing brand new apples to brand new apples, obviously the bigger ones are going to be bought when your getting more for your money, especially in today's society of "SUV SUV SUV SUV!!!!"

But I'm with you 100%, I would get an X5 over an X3 too. Just because it's in roughly the same price range depending on your options and model, and you get a better looking vehicle.
