K guys as some might know i've been trying to figure out this HID problem i've been having. I thought i had narrowed it down to one of the ballasts not working. So I figured before i gave up on them I'd try them out on my gf corolla to make sure. Anyways i plugged in the suspected ballast and sure enough it worked so i figured it must only not work on my car. Anywas my gfs dad liked them and i thought i'd show him what they look like with both in. So I hooked up the other ballast and turned them on. Sure enough the one i thought was broken wouldn't work but the other one did? In conclusion one of the ballasts works all the time no matter what but the other one only works when it's the only ballast plugged in and does'n't work when both are in. Anybody?

This is by far the strangest problem. When i was talking to you i told you about the DRL, but you said you tested it the way i did so it cant be that.. Anyone know if a E30 has enough power to start these things up? i have no idea, just trying to help him out.

when you turn them on, do you turn them on at the same time with the car? Try turning them on after turning the car on? The ballasts need like 27000 volts to ignite the lights.

ya i've tried tuning the lights on before i turn the car on like betray sugessted and them tried turning them on after the car is one and nothing. When i originally turn them on the one light that works goes extremely bright for a sec them goes normal. I've ruled out a problem with my car cause i just tried them on a brand new corolla and same thing.

that's really really weird.. I'd understand if only one didn't work consistantly..

ya i know. One always works no matter what and this other one will only work when it's the only HID hooked up. I just tried turnig the lights on everyway possible. car on then lights on/ lights off then car on/ daytime on then car on then lights on etc everypossible way. still only the same one light works. It's a e34 btw with projectors if it makes a difference.

where are you placing the ballasts? I'm sure it probaby has nothing to do with it, but maybe its being grounded somewhere.

i havn't drilled them in yet. There lying up near the shock towers out of the way. There is double sided tape left on them from when betray used them. Should i be srewing them into somewhere for them to work? Are they not grounded through a ground wire in one of the connections?

should be okay, I didn't drill mine in, just stuck them on with tape.

are you sure you didn't get the two ballasts mixed up and its just the one that's not working?

oh i know it's on;y one thats no good. one works fine. It's just one only works byitself. the when u plug the good on in it stops working. how does it know the other one is plugged in?

hm, no idea, u sure the two prongs are wired in correctly? The two prongs that go into the plug?

try splittin the wires. maybe some of the connectors have rust in them.

This is really a strange problem we having. my only assumption is the post office just damaged it maybe with water or something.. its really odd. and frustrating!

if its not this im almost sure its because of the day time runners he has pr not enought power for them to get the kick they want for both to start?

Ok lee, just sent me pics of the box that i shipped it in. The thing looked like it was dropped then kicked 200yards and tore open and attached with tape again !??!?1 wtf

more to investigate. Anyone who can help the situation or delt with these post office morons please reply. thank you! Im still not sure if this is the problem, but im sure it didnt help

actually what I meant was, there are two prong connectors, make sure the ground is where the ground should be.

ya it's all put together right. This kit is a plug and play as it gets u can't screw it up. As betray said the box is not as he shipped it, after looking at it closer u can see that the bottom was ripped and taped.

Gamite do u have any pics of ur e34 and HID's are the H1's alot brighter than the 9006. I wan't to get euro smoked like your but not in budget right now, saving for TCD kit *mw* hopefully by next spring.

What are you going to do with the 9006 bulbs if you're going to go euro?

RU wired in parallel or in series? That would be my guess if one worked, then stopped working when another was added...

But then the other bulb in theory shouldn't be working either in that case...I don't know. Get a voltmeter and figure out how much juice is being supplied, and if there is a difference with 2.

we're returning the 9006's cause they were damaged on dilivery so now that i don't have them maybe i'll switch to euro lights. M3ti Compact i'll give the volt meter a shot however it did the same thing on 2 cars so but u never know

What I just remembered from my Electric Circuits class (I just remembed it because I hated most of it and forgot it all right after the exam was done)...power will go the path of least resistance...SO, if in parallel, and the resistance of the 2 ballasts are different (which they shouldn't be), then power goes to ballasts with the lower resistance...

don't quote me on this...I got a C- in this course...and also not taking engineering anymore...
