I have an '89 240 DL and I found some cool Volvo boards. You might want to post your car on sale on www.turbobricks.com or www.brickboard.com (thats if you don't already post there!).

I have an 1989 240 DL as a winter beater too... its too slow right now; I have most of the parts to turbo it but I might go 5.0 instead.

5.0 swap is not as economical as do a turbo build up.

you gonna spend all the money and time to have a mid-high 14s car.

spend that on the turbo swap and you can hit low 14s consistenly without worrying if your tranny support gonna break.

I have an m47; I have more to worry about than just the tranny support breaking *thmbsdwn*. I doubt the tranny would take more than 6 psi without grenading sooner rather than later. 6 psi isn't getting me to the low 14's.

My parents both drive a 7 series for over 10 years (my dad's is pushing 12 psi and its fun but still kinda sedate). I have enough spares for me to turbo it; all I'm missing are the brown tops and control box and the turbo oil feed / return.

I think your arg about doing a turbo build up being more economical than a 5.0 is only clear cut when you start with a turbo'd automatic Volvo.

I haven't made my mind up either way and won't be starting until April at the ealiest.

PS nice 740 SE

PPS I think that's the most off topic post I've ever made...

Great price on the 1989 740 Turbo!

Got any pics Nick? I should take pics of mine but I guess I should wash of the 1" thick coating of mud first!

*mumble* - Darn new subdivisions!

I'll take a few this weekend; its basically stock other than IPD sway bars and some gauges. The body's nice though; almost no rust, no dings.

Nick,

Is there a local distributor for IPD in the GTA? Or did you just order direct? Also have you ever been to this place in Burlington that sells Volvo performance parts.... http://www.eurosporttuning.com/home.htm

thx, and yea, this is so offtopic, so bump off it goes.

it all depends the condition on the tranny, there have been people hitting low 13s on stock M46 with B230 w/relative few mods, just good tunning.
