I have found that it is not so easy to find wheels that I like with the correct offset and bolt pattern for my '88 325i Cab.

I was curious to know if there are any 4-bolt to 5-bolt E30 spacer adapters? I have a friend who owns a shop that has successfully made these for various 1st and 2nd gen RX-7's that see heavy track use (no failures). I was considering asking him to make me a set.

I would REALLY like to be able to fit the wheels from my E39 540i/6 (17" sport rims) on the E30. Is this possible? How thick does the spacer need to be if this is possible? If I source the wider rear sport rims (staggered setup), will they fit under the E30 fenders?

Thanks!

Someone had mentioned that I would need to change more than the hubs, calipers, and pads to get the E30 M3 brakes to fit right.

What parts will I need exactly to install front and rear E30 M3 brakes on my '88 325i Cab?

Could someone shed some light on this?

Thanks!

You need the front sturt assy's from an m3.

And the rear trailing arm hub, etc from an m3. You may be able to do it without the trailing arms but I don't know

This is why I'd rather have a spacer adapter made.

What are the offsets of:
E30 325i Bottlecaps
E30 M3 Rims
E39 540i 17" Sport Rims (mesh style, deep lip) (staggered)

Thanks!

Yes, I need help.

I'm just gonna reply your PM in here, it might be useful too for other members. My adapters are 4x100 to 5x130.

4x100 can't go to 5x120
4x100 adapters can only go to:

- 4x100, with different centre bore sizes
- 4x108
- 4x98
- 4x114.3
- 4x130
- 5x100
- 5x130

There's more info in here (http://www.maxbimmer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36689&highlight=adapter) :)

What bolt pattern are the 540i sport wheels?

All 5-bolt BMW's are 5x120. The E39 has a 74.1 wheel centrebore.

Forgive the potentially lame question, but why can't I make an adapter to go from 4x100 to 5x120?

Assuming I go with the 8" 540i sport wheels all around, could I make an adapter 10mm front, 7mm rear, all 4x100 to 5x120 with outer centre bore of 74.1mm? What would the issues be? Do I even have the math/units correct?

Maybe I should just have a *drink*, give up on this, and find another set of wheels?

because you'll over lap one (maybe several) of the bolts. you can't have 1 hole with 2 bolts in it. unless the adapter is really really thick.

hehe dont give up man ! *th-up* BBS RS was the only reason I got my E30. so rims first then the car ... LOL ! :D ask Mitch555 and other members ... *wave*

But 5x130 is the bolt pattern for porsche right? Ive been keeping an eye out for Boxter twists 17x8 fronts and carrera twists 18x9 rears. I love those wheels!

It sounds like it might be easier to get the 540i sport wheels filled, redrilled, and balanced? (I would still need spacers though, right? 10mm front, 7mm rear?)

do you have picture(s) of this 540i sport wheels ? it seems really special for you. :)

It's just the stock BMW deep lip 2 piece mesh style rim. Nothing special, I just happen to like them. They look fantastic on my 540i and I think they'll look just as hot on the cab.

The bolt pattern is the same on all 5-bolt BMW's, just the centrebore changes. So with hub rings, anything is possible.

I'm going through some financial difficulty right now, but I'll sell myself on the street before I let these puppies out of my site.

Seriously if someone wanted to give me $2G's for them I'll think about it, but otherwise, no dice. :)

LOL... it would be cheaper to fill/redrill my E39 rims to fit! LOL...

Considering what was paid for them (I am on REV too). I'd be prepared to offer a very realistic and fair $1300 without rubber if and ONLY if the rims are 100% straight and true. You might be able to squeeze me for another couple of hundred bucks... keep me in mind, I DO want these wheels!

Are they the proper offset for an '88 E30 325i Cabriolet?

Anyways, there's lots of time before I *need* any rims at all, so think about it. Only 3 more months until I start sleeving and forging (the internals of) my M20!
