I'm hoping for any advice on my situation. I'm in the market for a car since my 92 nissan sentra doesn't hack it any longer. I recently took a 2002 SMG M3, at BMW Toronto,on a test drive and fell in love. It's got 38000 km on it, looks to be in good shape, 18" inch snow and 19" summer wheels, and its going for 62500, the dealer would also make a certified series car (6 year warranty on basically everything). Now i'm looking for advice on whether I should by a used SMG M3, not necessarily the one above, or a new 330 ci.
I'm trying to figure out what kind of problems can I run into with the M3 and what these problems are going to cost me. Help me please!!

i know that some engine problems in the 2001 model, but thats bout it, even if u do have engine problems bmw can replace anything under warrenty. espically with the 6 year warrenty your gettin. u'd be a dumbass not to get the M3

If it was me wo had the option to get the used M3 or a new 330ci My first choice would be the M3 for sure I work for a bimmer dealership and the M3 is my favorite car to drive other than the new 645 you can't go wrong with a 6 year Certified series bimmer my only advice is get all the history on the used car you decide to buy

M3 for sure. I've never tried SMG but I'd definitely get it if I had the chance. It's advanced technology to me so why not.

I suspect that used M3 has the extended engine warranty.

BMW extended the S54 engine warranty to 100+K to help ease the concerns of the high failure rate these engines were experiencing in late 2001 builds.

Confirm this with the dealership, and if so, get it in writing.

SMG is awesome, but do you mind driving an M3 in the winter? or do you have a winter beater?

Sentra or M3????
hard choice lol

but seriously, like kontesto said u may want to get a winter beater as it would hurt me to put an m3 through winter

but if you can only have 1 car get the m3 *th-up*

I just did almost the same thing.

I went from a 2001 330ci to a 2002 M3. There is no question about it. The M3 feels like a whole different car. *th-up* *th-up* *th-up*

Get the M3 but please, please, please get a $500 civic for winter. You don't want some fool with bald tires to ruin your year.
