just this weekend when i started my car and looked out the back i seen black smoke, i reved it a lil (3000) and a lotta black smoke came out the back

i suspect my o2 sensor is shot and im runnin too rich cause i noticed my gas milage has gone downhill a bit

could this also be related to the v9 chugging?

black smoke is from too much gas entering the gas chamber.. so yes you could be running rich... (possibly o2?... or your intake sensor?).. did you check for any fault codes?

It could also be a leaky injector. Did you smell your engine oil?.. check for any gas leaking into it?

black smoke can also be oil (piston rings)

I thought when your rings go, you'll get blue smoke...

Heh, well, blue and black smoke are subjective observations.

My first thought was that your oil seals are bad so when the engine, thus seals, are cold they're smaller and when the engine begins to warm up, the seals become more pliable and fill the gaps eliminating burning oil.

Jay. like I said. you need to give me ur M3 bumper and skirts and all these engine problems that ur having will miraculously disappear. :moon:

Bring it down to the shop. hopefully we can get it on a hoist now...
we'll sit have a few beers, do a compression test to know whether or not ur rings are good. a have a fuel injection flush machine we can try for the injectors. and the cats...maybe I can magically come up with some for ya!!

Cats will give off a nasty egg fart-like smell if you heat it up too fast...eg...5 minutes into driving and you floor it...

Mine does that...and I passed the Drive Clean 2 times already...one of the readings was actually 0 out of an allowed 1250 or something! Guy said it was like a brand new car.
