Those are Cali distributor plates. They are issued for road testing purposes to the car manufacturer. We wont be getting them here in NA for at least another 6 months..most likely they will debut at dealerships in the spring of '05.

Nope they are coming as 06 model, so it would be here in autumn 05.

couple months before the 6 came out...it was roaming around California since they have a design center somewhere in central California

ya, if that peron paid 200K or whatever for that car, i am sure he would leave a little more space between the front spoiler and the curb, damn, BACK THAT SHIT UP.

I think thats some big fish from Europe brought that car in California just to drive around. Well since Americans have tough rules he was forced to have plates on the back.
I remember when Peja Stojakovic broughT his SL500 in Serbia and just drove it around with USA plates. He only had usa places cuz there it's not so big deal if you are loaded. That's my guess. It could be some diplomat from Germany as well.

If we had some cop from California to run that plate up
we would have more info .

actually, the former president of BMW designworks in California, Adrian von Hooydonk, is actually the designer responsible for the exterior of the 645Ci. so i wouldn't be surprised if he get to drive one of the first 645Ci around California months ahead of its official introduction date.
