'tsup fellow Bimmer lovers. I need a winter-beater. I don't care if it's a rust bucket as long as the motor and heater core work. I'm looking to spend anywhere from $100-$1,500.

Oh yeah, I live in Thunder Bay so i'd need to buy it locally...if there even any maX members up here, not too sure...

I'd rather not. It's REALLY cold up here in mid-January i.e. -40 and LOTS of snow, so for a bit more money i can store it in a heated garage and drive a beater.

Now that's a beater. i'd take it, but a transport will cost ~ $650.

why don't you pick it up.... take a greyhound and pick it up. even if you do have to pay 650 it'll end up costing 1,100. the funny thing, transport costs more than the car. Plus its a four hour trip, one hour there and 3 hours back. Plus im sure youd get many looks in the car however im not sure what kinda looks they'd be

Actually, the drive is 16 hrs., not 4 hrs. So, you can see why it's not quite that simple. Otherwise, i'd pick it up for sure. I'm going to look at a '90 Ford Tempo tonight for $500 + $300 to get it up to safety standards. Thanks anyways though.

I wasn't sure if you were joking or not. It's just that most people think Thunder Bay is around Sudbury (4hrs) but that's only 1/4 of the way...damn that's far! It's funny because before I moved up here from TO about a year ago, most of my friends were like "you'll be coming home on weekends right?"...ya right.
