i was exploring the possibilities of an alternative to an m3 engine via an AA turbo system this winter, but found they only make one for a 93-95 325i

whats up with that?
sumthing to do with the non-vanos engines?

Paul from this board did a custom turbo for his 92 sedan. From what I hear it's a pretty good set up. I'm gonna see if I can find some pics.

The engine management is different. There is basically a non vanos. I had to drive all the way to Cali to supercharge my. If you want a supercharger I have all the hard ware for you.

Tong (don't know if I spelt it right), bring the car by Polycon so I can check it out man. Chong and Dustin told me you drove out to Cali for the kit but you haven't rolled by since.

Btw it's Richard, Harman's buddy with the white four door.

You were expecting AA to be giving away their turbo kits? You do get what you pay for though.

How else do you plan to get a 325 to run "only" 13.5? (M3 motor and a cam kit will cost you about the same)

I'm not sure how much a cam kit is... but it'd cost $11,484 CDN for both an M3 drop and that cam kit?

I couldn't justify an AA turbo for almost $12,000 before shipping or installation either. I'm sure you're right that it's a quality kit though.. you'd know better than I would.

Remember, his quote is in USD.

u can easly do an m3 swap for under 7000canadian

i know because ive been researching like crazy

i figure if i spend 8700 on a turbo kit and hit a 13.5 thats about as fast as ill get it, but if i spend less on an m3 motor swap i can go slightly slower but have a fast starting point (14 sec range) then i put the turbo on the m3 motor and 12.7 seems pretty nice

so why spend crazy cash on the 325i motor when you would be maxed out at 13 sec range when u can spend less on a m3 motor and start your modding at the 13-14 sec range?

also AA dosent make any kit for an automatic so i would have to spend another 1500-2000 on getting my tranny swapped to accomodate for the turbo's

so to run 13.5 on my current motor ide have to spend an easy 13,000-14,000 Can

not my choice of peaches sorry
thats like double what i payed for the car, plus an m3 engine is a better investment in the car

...Or you could just buy a car that is actually made to be drag raced. Your concern with 1/4 times indicates an E36 may not be the right car for you.

Honestly give it a thought.

$3000US for the cam kit, and yes I know that the quote was in US dollars:P

Also, in my opinion, low displacement engines and auto trannys generally don't usually equal fast acceleration. The tranny swap should be on top of your list of mods.

the tranny swap will come with the m3 motor, im searching for an m3 motor with a 5spd tranny

jay,

i used to have a 12 sec trans am but i also worked close to home, when i got a job 45min away from home i was forced to give up the big v8 power and i decided to go bmw because i know they can be made to go fast and still maintain as a nice daily driver

I could bring my car (with a '95 325i engine) and $15,000 to a shop in Mississauga and get a total custom turbo set up and probably have about 300-350 rwhp.

But I don't have that kind of money or will have it for awhile...............since i'm pre-approved for a mortgage.

A) Look at how much horsepower a chevy small block starts with.
B) Look at how cheap the parts are.
C) It is a domestic product (i'm not knocking domestics).
D) Look how heavy the engine is. And if your getting an all aluminum Corvette engine your spending some serious coin.

And also I was saying that the 300 to 350hp is at the rear wheels!
