im bored though ide tell you guys im taking my old m50 engine and tranny out and putting in an m3 engine with a 5spd!

also to add im putting in an e46 rear end diff

my car comes off the road nov 13 and prep work begins in my garage!

n e one want me old m50 and auto tranny?? its currently readin 138,000KM

M50 be good for any E30 lookin to swap...

try the forsale forum and congrats on the M3 motor.

p.s.
don't forgot to check out your subframes, they had a problem with the 92 to 94 E36's before reinforcing them.

sub frame eh.... as in twisting cause i have eurthane bushings for the body mounts

N E feel free to add to the knowledge so i dont **** up bad

yeah when the time comes ill sell my m50

how much should i sell it for?

oviously comes with the software n crap plus auto tranny

i thought the 92-94 e36 had a problem with the chassis cracking not twisting.....any input????

I just put a deposit on a m50..might be able to get my deposit back if you have it at the right price. Pm me what what your looking to get.

92 had a defective subframe which would crack.

PM me with a price for your old engine... don't need the tranny though.. already have 5-speed manual. :)

whatever i dont use will be going up for sale

this should include the tranny, motor and obc
plus whatever goodies i cant use


should be everything needed for a swap

just keep in mind that my car goes off the road november and the engine probally wont be avaliable till febuary

on another note can u guys tell me about the subframe cracking????
this kinda scares me... anything i can do to prevent this???

this really scares me cause in the summer i plan on getting an AA turbo system.... i dont want my frame to crack!

im lookin to get 2800 for everything or 2000minus the tranny

keep in mind the engine wont be ready for sale until at least febuary

these are just figures from what ive been told by other members as to the value of the engine keep in mind this a 92 engine and it doesnt have the vano's crap and it has 189HP

E30 M50 ENGINE CONV PARTS LIST

1. E30 88' radiator, i used the e36 unit with the lower mounts raised
2. E30 88' radiator over flow tank
3. E30 M20 fan, poss. w/clutch
4. E28 533i motor mounts w/ 5mm spacers or e28 m5 mounts with out spacers
5. E34 throttle cable
6. E21 brake booster w/ mod.shaft, to 15mm or 325IX/e32 735 without mod to the shaft
7. E34 M5 or 25mm brake master clyninder w/ additional brake line used for the 325ix boooster

10. E30 M3 driveshaft or i used the front of the e36 mated to the rear of my e30 M3 have it rebalanced

13. E34 oil pan
14. E34 oil pickup
ect. ect.
15. E36 m3 exhaust manifold
16. M50 radiator hoses
17. E36 M3 Motronic
18. OBDI intake manifold
19. OBDI throttle body boot
20. E36 alloy mounting arms
21. OBDI wiring harness DO NOT BUY silver label 413 motronic, it has EWS (security),
it can only put into original chassis
22. the engine harness and the ECU are all E36 M3.

8 hour job @ chuck's.... have to drop everything and weld in reinforcements or swap with a newer subframe... chuck has a m3 rear subframe in stock for $200 (the quote he gave me)

my subframe and especially my subframe bushings need some looking after.

ok im getting bits a peices here of info
i just spoke with the gentleman that will be doing my swap

he says i need the following parts

-Complete engine
-mass air flow meter
-complete engine wiring harness
-OBC
- m3 fuel pump

now i am also going from auto to manual he says this is what i need

- pedals
- clutch master cylinder
-clutch slave cylinder
-clutch slave hose
- m3 drive shaft
- 5 spd transmission
-tranny cross member
-center consol

he has a donor car he can offer me..
-pedals
-clutch master cylinder
-center consol
-slave cylinder
clutch slave hose

he says he can do a cash deal of $1500 for the labour to take my old engine and tranny out and put the m3 swap in this price also includes the parts from his donor car
(he also said he can do this in aprox 3 days)

is there any parts i should try to locate before i give him my car come winter?

Bad idea. They're all open diffs, you want an LSD, especially with that type of torque.

i jus talked to the guy doin my swap he says my 3:91 should be ok for a while or at least until i can find an LSD

Wow, you would have incredibly high revs on the highway. It could be liveable for a bit I guess though.
